yeah, it's looking that way. Pita and Eli look slow and weak on the pass rush drill posted today. The other way to get an elite edge rusher is trading a boat load of draft picks for a guy like Kalil Mack. Either way, I'm not really confident in our Edge Rushers. Hopefully they show up in pre-season and prove me wrong.

The Shanahan vision at RB is materializing: All the guys in that group are proficient route runners. The linebackers rarely win in 1-on-1 pass coverage drills against them. There was one exception today: Fred Warner jumped in front of Matt Breida for an impressive INT.

So tired of people twisting that statement. This was an exceptionally weak class for pass rushers. What he meant was you can't just randomly pick someone and have them walk on and be better than what you already have. We had holes every where and decisions had to be made about the long term growth of the team. If there are more tackles, corners and safeties available and they fill holes that are also empty, you take the best of what there is, not reach for someone that you don't think might make it. Is that rely confusing to you, as your emoji indicates?

Yeah, that *give up* attitude on the LEO position kinda irked me. I mean if our DC had any talent at spotting good Edge rushers - he'd have done what Walsh did on offense in '79. It was a weak quarterback draft and Walsh still came way with a good 3rd round QB pick that year. Instead the 49er brain-trust drafts an all acl-guy in Street.

If they drafted Ogbonnonia Okoronko this year and he got cut during cutdown day to the 53, it would still be the same result as if they picked Kentavius and him not playing this year.

With younger, more athletic guys like Warner, Saleh will be able to scheme more sacks.

One of the things that makes Wade Phillips' defenses good is that he has guys coming at your from all points of the compass. Though part of that is talent, it is also scheme. Every place he goes, sacks go up.
