The 49ers are two elite pass rushers away from having an elite roster.

With younger, more athletic guys like Warner, Saleh will be able to scheme more sacks.

One of the things that makes Wade Phillips' defenses good is that he has guys coming at your from all points of the compass. Though part of that is talent, it is also scheme. Every place he goes, sacks go up.

Saleh is the antithesis of Wade though.

Go look at how Wade fared his first year in the NFL as DC. We have no idea what kind of DC Saleh can be when given sufficient talent to work with.

I see Saleh as a guy who is more prone to fitting a system to the talent than the talent to the system.

As we saw, this past year he ran a pretty simple system in order to allow guys to "find their way" and develop chemistry. I expect to see that change somewhat this season as players will be more settled in to each other and what is expected of them.

...just talking from a sheme standpoint and blitz/pressure philosophy.

Fair point...we'll see how he evolves. Today he was praising again how simple his sheme is that allows players a better opportunity to grow/develop faster...seems pretty married to this system that doesn't leave a lot to scheme.

A big factor and something that should accelerate his evolution is having one of the best offensive brains to pick in every meeting. And as Kyle grows more comfortable as a head coach he can help that process even more and offer offensive counterpoints.

s**t. One elite pass rusher would help tremendously. I'd take one at this point. Haha

Yeah, we just need one. Hopefully, some of the new help will shine. We're going to have to wait for the '19 draft to get that franchise edge rusher.

Yeah, if these two can make the best coverage LB's in the league, our base front 7 will be ridiculous.
