It's amazing that they are talking about him being a starter. He has come a long way since his Mission Hills Grizzlies days here in North County San Diego. He was a big star LB here a number of years ago and heavily recruited.

Eventually he chose BYU where he made a name for himself for being tall, rangy and fast and especially good in coverage. Which I think he can do for us too.

It's pretty crazy seeing him on the 49ers and maybe even getting playing time as they are talking about. The High School program he is from is one of the best in San Diego. I believe they won the CIF section Championship in his time era there. Sometimes they go undefeated and are one of the best High School programs in the County. Especially for football. They have had many football players at many College programs in recent years. Including BYU, San Diego State and others.

Now they even have players in the pros. I don't think he is the last one who can make it there BTW. They are known for very fast, athletic players who fly all around the field and also great coaching. They tend to have great, speedy skill position players and very athletic LB's and DB's. Many of whom have been recruited to major College Football programs in recent years and SOME of whom may find themselves in the pros eventually like Fred Warner. He is without a doubt one of the absolute best ones to come out of there in recent years. That was the case as he was being recruited to go to College too on the previous level. Now he hit the next level and it sounds like they like him a lot.

That's an amazing story, bro. What are the chances that someone from high school in San Diego made it to the pros, much less the Niners? I can hardly wrap my mind around it. (See Alex Smith, Reggie Bush).

There are some from time to time. But it's kind of rare especially on your favorite NFL team. It is interesting to see.

He's a third rounder, you're expecting too much. If he doesn't do great right away then that's all on you based on your expectations.

i like him very much,. i will not rip the kid if he struggles early. i think all of us have high hopes for him. i never ripped thomas whenhe struggled early and this kid is my fav draft pick
51-52-53??

heck, give him #52 !!!!

or give him #58 since a Center is using this number, give the Center # 62 !!
It doesn't look like Warner is changing his number. 48 it is.

Faulk to be noted only went to college in SD. He was born in NO.

So week 1 Mike/Will is Warner and Coyle? I'm guessing Warner plays WILL to give the playcalling duty to the vet (Coyle is Mike)?

Good question. I'm not sure I saw Warner and Coyle playing together. Brittle Malcolm Smith may have thrown a wrench in their plans because I think they wanted to go with Warner and Smith in game one.

I don't think I saw Warner and Coyle on the field at the same time this preseason either because Warner and Coyle were both exclusively at Mike. I don't think they want to move Warner around and he's been Mike all this time. But Coyle doesn't play Will. So one of them will be in unfamiliar territory at Will in week 1. I know the positions are interchangeable, but it's not 100% identical. I think they put Warner at Will. Only until Foster comes back.

If Glass Joe Malcolm Smith is out, could we see Fred Warner at MIKE and Elijah Lee at WILL since he's Smith's backup?

Agreed. I hope he can step up to the big challenge ahead of him. I won't fault him for some mental errors here and there but he needs to be good for us especially week 1 and 2.
