Looks solid. I like the coverage skills.

He's basically another safety with his strong coverage skills. Love his closing speed to.
love this guy, favorite pick so far... once he locks in on the ball and decides to close its over
Is he big enough to play LB?
Yes, he's big enough to play LB.

He's 6'3

Uh, what? He's 6'3" 236. That's excellent size in today's NFL, especially when you factor in his speed and mobility.

John Lynch just referenced Fred's ability to play with great vision, awareness and click-and-close ability in zone coverage. Here's a play I highlighted demonstrating some of those abilities:

Still grinding Warner's tape and continue to find things that translate. The transition to off-ball LB might be slightly turbulent in run fits to start, but Warner is already exceptional in coverage. His zone awareness is impressive.

Plays such as this one translate to Saleh's defense. The football IQ here is outstanding. Protects the sticks w/ proper depth; Head on a swivel; Reads QB the entire way. A lot to like about Warner, and he fits the 49ers' athletic profile at LB.

If the 49ers defer on LB until late day 2/day 3, Warner is my guy.

I missed that early on , but pretty dang impressive Hero. Ok, really impressive...and well done.
But can he tackle?

Ask Joe Williams

How bad is the tackling? A LB with tackling issues scares the s**t out of me.

Insane football IQ... keys in on plays before the ball is snapped, attacks the ball for turnovers when a guy is stood up, tracks down receivers in zone like a DB and anticipates rather than reacts. Hard not to like the pick.

Making me feel better a day later. Thx
People really weren't in favor of this pick? I wanted him badly if we didn't get Roquan. Him and (hopefully) Foster could become a dynamic duo.

Thanks., Chaz. He's 236? Wow can he fly. And the wonderlick thing? He has terrific instincts for the ball. But runs like a 198 lb WR. Wow, i like mucho.

with the smarts, character, hard hitting...wonder if some of that (not the hitting) could rub off or osmose onto the guy he plays next to?

What? He's 236 not 206.
