The NFL has lost their mind. They finally get rid of the BS catch rule but bring in something worse with the helmet rule. It's high comedy watching these clowns throw flags on perfectly good tackles. This is going to be a problem in the regular season if this called.

Well....It seemed like our boys held their own against a strong Texans team in practice which matters more than the preseason game where everything is just vanilla. Good job fellas!! Can't forget how a few years ago when the whole team in 3 phases got beaten up and ranned over by the Broncos at their joint practice, but won the preseason game. Well, we all know how that season went, Lol. Can't wait for the season to start already. We are going to prove that the hype is very real. Lehhss Gooo Niners!!! Super excited

That's why Kyles offense is going to domiinate the NFLthis year.

For the defense, it's basically basketball out there. Can't hit the WR/TE/Arby when he's pass catching. That's why I think they got coverage linebackers like Reuben and Fred. These guys are more cover and break up passes than a Patrick Willis/Novorro Bowman who'll blow up recievers when they just catch the ball. Defenses liked hitting the reciever just as he catches the ball because it can cause a turnover, nowadays it causes headaches for the defensive coordinator and penalty first downs for the offenisve coordinator.

Agree with both of you, reminds me a bit of John Frank. Decent blocker, good reciever. If Kyle gets his 3rd TE that can jump ball in the red zone, watch out short yardage offense - it's going to be unstoppable.

Good blocking during this game so that's an arrow up. Maybe he can make this a battle with Hikutini.

I really hope so because if there's one area of the team I think even when everyone is healthy, it lacks depth is TE. Cole hasn't impressed this camp at all. The #3 TE spot IMHO is up for grabs and is clearly critical to the team given Kittle's injury history.

Cole had a nice game...nice driving catch IIRC. I didn't notice his inline blocking though.

Yeah, I haven't seen much of Hikutini either this year in TC and I think Ross is a better reciever than Paulson from last year. Just looked, Logan is gone.
What I don't understand is that they implemented a tackling rule to limit what traditionally an intimidation, 'enforcer' type hits, but they don't seemed to teach guys to tackle differently. Especially the downfield, open field type of tackles. Does the NFL send out people to each team to teach them how to tackle within the rules?

Good idea. Probably against the CBA somehow, though.

I think he's got a legit shot to make the team.

PS bait

One solution is to make it illegal to tackle with your head in front. Using rugby style tackling would definitely reduce concussions. But how to make the transition is mind boggling! After years of tackling with your head in front...now I have a headache...

Not surprised. This is just step one in a long line of changes. Before you know it, football will be unrecognizable.
Cam Inman‏:
49ers rookie safety Terrell Williams placed on injured reserve after Thursday's knee injury.
Safety Dexter McCoil re-signed, having played in 8 games last year

This is very disappointing, especially in the way it happened - you would hope there wouldn't be concrete anywhere near the practice field. Williams was going to have a difficult enough time making the team (probably was PS bound)...he had a promising first preseason game and it's too bad we now can't see him the rest of the preseason.

seems odd.

I think they are trying to stash him so no one takes him from practice squad. No actual injury news..
