He explained why he uses TD SF instead of TD 49ers. He felt that TD 49ers would be too much like TD Raiders. He also said that he wants to emphasize that they ARE the San Francisco 49ers even though some people complain that they don't play in SF. That's more of an SF snob thing since they always will look down on the south bay. He pointed out that there are 12 teams that don't play in the city of the team name. Two don't even play in the same state. Anyway I applaud him for coming up with that call after putting some thought into it. He did say it may change over time but that's it for now.
As a side note he talked about past Niners play by play guys and replayed some of their greatest calls. The Niners museum has a feature that lets fans pick their favorite play and do the voice over for the play call. I did the Steve Young run against the Vikings. Then they send the audio to your computer or ipad. It's really a cool feature and I would suggest it for any fan that hasn't visited the museum.

I thought his explanation about how he chose the call was pretty cool. Papa has a lot of respect for the great 49ers' pbp-callers of the past

Anyone know of a way to watch all the highlights with the radio calls? Just like hearing the team announcer over the broadcast obviously.

He needs to ditch that touchdown 'San Francisco' call with touchdown '49ers'.

Isn't their flag station KNBR? That should be on their website.

I had a chance to hear him for a brief moment today while driving to Lake Merrit Bakery. I was not impressed. His play by play descriptions seemed labored, bland and we'll behind the actual on field action.
I know he's a Bay Area legend, but I'd much prefer Starkey or even that baseball guy we dropped for Papa.

I couldn't find anything on the KNBR site yesterday. I know some people don't care for the call, but I like it. It's different. The TV broadcast touchdown calls are almost always crap in comparison.

Still haven't found anything, but I did find an app: DAR.fm that allows recording radio feeds, so I'll probably stick to that and re-listen after games. Well, after winning games that is.
Otherwise.. you have to pay for a service like NFL Gamepass/Replay, TuneIn, or something else that does that for you.

NFL Game Pass allows you to listen to the radio call (home or away). You can have one browser tab with the game replaying, and another tab with the radio call going on. It's not highlights though, it's the entire game.

He's not going to do it, he said it'd be too similar to the Raiders, and it's a good reminder that the 49ers still represent San Francisco despite playing next to a bunch of corporate tech buildings in South Bay

Doesn't want to tread on Lon Simmons signature call. Trying to make his own mark in 49ers broadcasting lore.

Yeah I used to do a sneaky setup where I bought an international version of Gamepass and then VPN'ed in so I could essentially have Sunday Ticket for cheap via PC + Big Screen TV rig. No need for that anymore with so many free streams available. But yeah, it does mean I can't get the radio calls anymore.
