Papa is a bandwagon analyst with a fake over the top TD schtick. The best thing I like about it is that he's on KNBR and talks a s**t load of Niners talk.

Papa is a total pro, and was a good score by the 49ers. He was by far the best part of that now defunct talk show on csnba. I have always gotten a Bob Costas vibe from Papa, all around well versed announcer.

I like him as the PBP. I hate the TD cal. Need to get used to it quick because blowouts are to come.

Papa will be fine once people get used to listening to him. His style is way different from Ted's who really smart but very laid back. It's tough in the Bay Area to replace a sports announcer that fans are comfortable listening to especially since the Bay Area has had so many great ones. Imagine the poor guys that have to replace Krukow and Kuiper. They've been together longer than any pair I can think of.

Smart move, no reason to listen to someone you don't like. But it is kinda funny the criticism of a Bay Area broadcasting legend like Papa getting from someone who quite recently didn't even know the difference between PBP and color.

I didn't like it at first because it reminded me of the Chiefs announcer saying "touchdown! Kan-sas City!" But now I like it much better after I got over that. He explained the reason for using San Francisco. Wanted to keep that identity of the actual city within his play-by-play announcing.
