I like Papa.. but unfortunately, I don't love his TD calls. The "Trey Area" thing definitely made me cringe a little. It is what it is.

I understand the San-Fran-Cisco thing is a tribute, but copying another announcer's call cadence? It bothers me. Takes away from the uniqueness.

I know we could do a lot worse, but man, we could do a lot better too.

i don't remember the TD call from someone else.. who used to do that ?

KC announcer. That's who the call tribute is from. I don't recall the announcer's name.

(edit) Found it: Mitch Holtus (Chiefs radio announcer since 1994)

It's literally an exact copy of this except San-Fran-Cisco instead..

Interesting. You wouldn't have a problem with Papa copying the cadence of another team's announcer if you weren't listening to another team's announcer.
Slow news day?
Papa's okay. He's not Lon Simmons or Joe Starkey but he's better than Ted Robinson. Ted is more suited to tennis.
This guy is way too cringe. Like settle down old man. My little brother that's in high school even asked what was wrong with him. Lol. He kept trying to force corny, cheesy names and phrases. I think even his on air partner was feeling embarrassed. Haha.

In addition to Simmons & Starkey, I also miss Don Klein - remember him? Him and Wayne Walker...good tandem & brings back great memories as this franchise was just in the beginning of its long dynasty run.
Papa and Tim Green are definitely over the top when it comes to the contrived TD calls and catch phrases. It's all a matter of personal taste. I grew up on Lon Simmons and Joe Starkey. Those were the classic days of Niners radio broadcasts. Since I don't reside in the Bay Area, I would still much rather listen to Papa and Green online than the homers from other teams that are on the NFL Network preseason broadcasts.

Even if Tim Green?
Greg has grown on me, I like it now.
I miss Joe Starkey, but he's better than Ted Robinson
