Agreed. I'll take Papa any day over Ted. Ted should stick to tennis.

the Trey Arrreaaa was a little cringy... just stick with the San-Fran-cisco call

He needs to ditch them both. Papa is that rich older guy trying too hard to be cool, and relatable to a younger demographic. But his real life is so out of touch with that demo that it comes across so forced and fake. And it is worse because he doesn't know it. That is why that Buschemi gif was perfect.
Lon was by far the best. Don Klein was very good too. Papa? Not so much

Don't get me wrong, I agree with you. At least he's enthusiastic I guess :/ not like Joe Buck sounding annoyed every time we do something good 😂
I dont see what the big deal is. I thought his trey area call was funny and made that moment even funner. Its pre season hes just having fun.

I like Papa.. but unfortunately, I don't love his TD calls. The "Trey Area" thing definitely made me cringe a little. It is what it is.

I understand the San-Fran-Cisco thing is a tribute, but copying another announcer's call cadence? It bothers me. Takes away from the uniqueness.

I know we could do a lot worse, but man, we could do a lot better too.

i don't remember the TD call from someone else.. who used to do that ?

KC announcer. That's who the call tribute is from. I don't recall the announcer's name.

(edit) Found it: Mitch Holtus (Chiefs radio announcer since 1994)

It's literally an exact copy of this except San-Fran-Cisco instead..

Interesting. You wouldn't have a problem with Papa copying the cadence of another team's announcer if you weren't listening to another team's announcer.

I watch too much football related stuff so I feel like I know every team's radio announcer style at this point haha
The latest Brick by Brick episode featured the Spanish announcers TD call, Papas call nowhere to be found lol

I think they really didn't like the Trey area call

The Spanish announcers are outstanding. They bring the passion every game.

I was fearing Bob Fitzgerald, so I'll take Greg all night

Nice
I'm not a huge fan of Papa's TD call, as I always loved the Simmons/Starkey style - the emphatic, often exasperated, almost out-of-breath style, most famously with the Steve Young run, Taylor's SB23 catch, and Owen's The Catch II. That being said, Papa > Robinson, for sure.

At least we know how many timeouts the Rams have when the game ended. Thanks Greg
