Bring back Joe Starkey

Starkey is 10x better

He was. But people don't live forever. I wish people like Starkey did. I remember when I was sent to cover 49ers training camp in Rocklin. It was 1985. Starkey was there. He was not a young man like I was. I'm 58 now.

He is still alive and does Cal games

I am sure he could fill in for a nine game here and there

"Again, Wade Boggs is very much alive..."

[for those that get the reference]

Nah. A breath of fresh air to leave all that drama and disfunction behind. Niners trending upward, Raiders downward.
the way they call games, it really gives the vibe they are throwing back adult bevs before, during and after enjoying the game
Love Papa. I bet he's so happy to be working for a real organization and not a s**thole, F-tier dumpster fire like the Raiders.

Papa is decent.

Tim Ryan is a buffoon.
Love Papa. His weekly interview with Kyle is awesome here on Bay Area Sports.

This was a good one this week AZ

Packers NFC Divisional:
I rank Papa right up there with the other Bay Area greats like Joe Starkey, Lon Simmons, Bill King, Jon Miller and Hank Greenwald.

Papa genuinely loves the sport of football and is a student of the X's and O's. I appreciate that about him. He's not some talking media nerd telling you what's happening on the field. He can also explain why and how it happened.

Yeah I like listening to him during the lunch hour he's on at that time, had some good takes today on how to attack DET.

I like Papa too but not as an announcer. I've listened to him for years and its clear he knows the game, but his Touchdoooo*voice crack*wnnnn San-Fran-Cisco call is awful. Sorry.

All of those manufactured touchdown calls are terrible. I couldn't stand "oh what a bonanza!" either.
