Preseason games dont have any coaches film so its too hard without those angles.

Looking forward to watching film this year.

Tentative first game analysis release is Wednesday late morning

Yes, it starts!
it's always fun, I like to pass game cutups the best, but all of it is good
Going to be a lot of 'oh what could've happened if only ...'
Was Juice's big play on a switch concept?....I've only seen the tv broadcast version, but is my recollection correct?

If so, how nice is it having a FB that can do this?

No. Switch is not a concept, it's an adjustment to a route combination!

I see it on here all the time, concepts and combos are completely different ideas.... the former is the basis for the latter....

So it wasn't this?

Because this is what it looked like watching at game time. I called it a switch concept because I've seen what is circled here referred to as a switch concept.

That's a switch applied to that particular route combination... the switch can be used for any route combination to usually achieve a pick/rub vs man coverage (like the combo you just showed), to achieve a personnel mismatch, or confuse pattern matching zone coverages... the base combo you just showed is some version of verticals versus middle open, and they used a 'switch' with #1 and #2 to obtain some type of advantage versus the coverage...

Also, the graphic is incorrect in labeling that combo as based on a vertical stretch concept, it is actually a horizontal stretch of the deep coverage concept!

I hope that cutup of Juice and be posted, I don't remember it specifically or the coverage, but if I remember it correctly the combo was based on a horizontal stretch of the deep coverage...

river, you and I have spoken about this. I use the term "concept" loosely in place of the term "route combination". I know you use "concept" to describe what the route combination does (horizontal/vertical/triangle stretch). For this thread, I'll be using the term concept to describe a route combination. I'm not the only person to use the term concept in this manner.

816 stop hoarding inbox messages. Yes Juice's big catch was on a Switch just like what you posted in the diagram. The combination of the playaction drawing the eyes of the safety, and the Slant from the WR created a blown coverage.
...
I'm waiting on jonnyd to start the MIN film thread. He has some things going on so I'm not sure when. I've only watched the SF defense, not the offense.

Yeah, neither of us are wrong or right, it's just the way we use the term. It's similar enough where I don't think we'll be confusing one another.

well to me they are distinctly different, it's just the way I was taught/coached and later coached others, but to each his own... so if I add to your cutups with the concept and combo distinction it's just me adding my own perspective
