Let me change the topic for a minute to girls soccer. They take a poll every year about why girls like to play soccer. One of the top 5 Answers is always that the player likes to be part of a team without having to do anything much of the time. When I look at Jimmie Ward in that tape I'm reminded of that.

Only play I want a gif of from this game is the one where Juice runs the option with I believe Brieda. I've never seen that. That was a real good call.

Did the 49ers jump the gun in annointing Adrian Colbert as the starting FS? PFF has rated him as one of the worst safeties in the league so far, he's missed a ton of tackles and messed up in coverage.

Love the play but here's an example of hard playing vs smart play... if Brieda cuts inside, it's a TD. Maybe that's experience but this is where coaching comes in. Same thing applies to penalties and fundamentals.

sure.

Breida cuts inside to his blocker for the TD and Jimmy's ACL never happens.

I blame Breida.

You show this on film and it helps slow down that end on the FB type runs. Could be a really nice short yardage runs. Also think about having a receiver with some ghost motion come across the grain of that play. It puts some pause on the defense.

When this team can get out of their own s**tty way on both offense and defense. You can see glimpses of it in every game. Even last year.

Felt like I should post something for the game just to put something down. I didn't watch the entire game on all22 so I won't give a game summary, plus it's already on to the next game. Here's a couple Jimmy passes to close out his season. x100

Levels + Double Ins vs Tampa2
Levels works well against Cover2 shell so Jimmy will look to work the left side of the field.

Weakside Hook/Curl (blue) is the key defender on this vertical stretch.

H/C defender stays shallow so Juice is covered. Jimmy targets Goodwin. As we've seen a lot of so far this season, the safeties are quick to take away the middle of the field as they know the 49ers love to hit those in breaking routes over the short/intermediate middle of the field. This Cover2 safety breaks downhill hard.

All Curls + backside Dig vs Cover3

Jimmy drops back and work inside-out on the All Curls. Underneath defenders are highlighted. Yellow is weakside Hook and shades towards the middle of the field to take it away.

With yellow in the middle of the field, and the curl/flat defender (green) removed via Juice's route, the backside Dig (Bourne) has a nice passing lane.

+27. This helps the 49ers get into FG to end the first half.

Sail vs Fire Zone blitz
Red takes the top off for yellow and orange to vertically stretch the sideline defender.

Underneath defenders are orange.

KC gets a 2v1 situation as Juice blocks the more immediate threat, leaving the other a free run at Jimmy.

The strongside curl/flat defender matches Taylor's route and gets vertically stretched by Taylor and Kittle. Garcon takes an outside release to turn the CB's back to the play. This allows Jimmy to throw with confidence to an open area for Kittle to run under.
