I love the double A gap muggers. Saleh should use that in every game.

Even when the defense has time to communicate they can't sort things out correctly. Orange WR motions across and sets to the right side of the formation. Tartt is seen motioning to Sherman about who covers who regarding orange and yellow. My guess is someone covers the outside guy, and someone covers the inside guy, based off of their release off the line.
Cover 1 blitz vs Shallow Cross


Both Sherman and Tartt end up covering the same WR. For Shallow Cross, the Sit (curl) route over the middle should never be open against man coverage - that route is to beat zone. Except when no one covers that route. It even takes awhile for Rodgers to see it because he sees man coverage and doesn't think the yellow route is open.


Rodgers doesn't see it till late in the play because that route isn't supposed to be open against man coverage. Completed to Graham (yellow), first down.

The play where Day gets a sack was pretty funny. Also involved a looping DE. I'll gif it later. First Blair nearly collides with Marsh when looping, then Buckner gets chipped and falls down, then Rodgers misses a wide open WR, Day slips and falls down, and to finish up the play Rodgers runs over to a fallen Day to get sacked.

I genuinely remember laughing at that play live...sounds even funnier as you describe it. Talk about falling into a sack.

Hey Thl, what program do you use for drawing on the pictures? I haven't found a good one myself and noticed Ted Nguyen uses the same one as you.

Yeah, red, yellow, and orange are pretty common colors . Snagit program to capture mp4. Then a free online converter from MP4 to gif.

We discussed 21 personnel and Kyle's love of it during this past offseason. So far this season, the 49ers again lead the NFL in using 21 personnel, and by a huge margin. According to this https://www.sharpfootballstats.com/personnel-grouping-frequency.html the 49ers have used 21 personnel 41% of the time this season. The next closest team is NE at 28%. Juice is the most used FB in the league and he's good, when he's not fumbling.

Teams have seen Juice beat LBs vertically up the sideline for large gains. The safety plays him to the outside, against a possible route towards and up the sideline. This allows Juice's angle route to be more effective.

He's had catches for: 56, 35, 15, 25, 16, and 21 yards. Of his 17 catches, six have been for 15+ yards. A FB averaging 13.4 yards per catch is playmaker status. Here's the 21 yarder where he ended up losing a fumble.
This is a blend of Switch Verticals (orange + red) and Flood concept (red + yellow + green). The all22 starts on this frame so I can't get the presnap formation. vs Cover1 blitz


49ers use playaction and it helps sell Juice looking to lead block on that LB.


But Juice runs right by the LB. Huge separation as Juice is basically running the deep over route on this Flood concept. Not many FBs get downfield like this.

Speed from the FB position also helps in this outside zone run scheme.
Outside zone left vs Bear front. Having a FB in the backfield is basically having a movable gap, and it helps a lot with weakside runs.
97 is Kenny Clark and 76 is Mike Daniels - two very good DLmen.


Tomlinson is in a battle with 76. Richberg and Person combo 97.


Juice gets to the hole and gives a shove on 76 to help Tomlinson, and create space in that B gap. 97 holds up Richburg very well and prevents Richburg from getting to the second level to block 50.


But Juice is able to quickly get to the spot and block the first green jersey, 50.


+17. Juice isn't a dominating, battering ram of a blocker. He's on the quicker side of things compared to other FBs. This makes him a good fit as a lead blocker in an outside zone scheme.
