Finally a win to watch. The 49ers showed that they still have the ability to confuse a bad defense, and with a third string QB. All the misdirection and eye candy that the 49er offense was able to present gave them good chunks in both the running and passing game. OAK showed how bad eye discipline against this offense will result in easy yards for the 49er offense. OAK played poorly as a defense with players losing contain, sometimes biting so hard for playaction that they'd abandon their coverage assignment. They mixed up their coverages all throughout while the game was "close", and Mullens was able to consistently locate the correct target.
Mullens made accurate throws between the numbers and hitting WRs in stride goes a long way in making this offense work. He was quick to find his hot read and get rid of the ball before any of the OAK blitzes had a chance. The 49ers worked the middle of the field in the passing game. Not scared to attack that area, choosing to stretch those defenders horizontally like on the Bourne TD and the Kittle big catch and run. Red zone offense had a good game.
Defensively the 49ers were able to get the best QB pressure they've had in years. There were a few times that pressure on Carr saved the secondary from possibly giving up a big play with a WR getting open. Feels good to say that QB pressure was instrumental in the defensive success. OAK lost their LT early in the game and a couple sacks came off the LT position.
