Makes it so much easier rather than searching for which page the newest game starts at.
Just wondering! Appreciate all the work you guys do this is by far my favorite thread every week!

It is a lot of work and I think the posters who were mainly doing it have got somewhat demotivated. Which is a great shame. Huge thanks to THL for his work here. Great stuff.

Agree. Thats a lot of film and knowledge to go through every week. At 2-7, its got to be hard for these guys to continue to put in the time.

Hats off to thl. Best thread on the zone. No question.

could've hit James, no?

James was open early for sure but it looks like Mullens was reading Garcon right off the PA and finding the open spot to throw it to him. By the time his eyes move to the middle of the field James is already running into the two safeties.

I don't know for sure but it looks like one of those "Shanahan Specials" where one receiver basically runs a pick 20 yards down field by occupying the safeties while another comes underneath for the catch. Though here James thinks the pass is coming to him causing him to turn around for a split sec before realizing Garcon is coming underneath, a rookie miscue. Shanny rarely puts two receivers in the same area both expecting a catch, one is always clearing the way for the other underneath route.

could've hit james as well

Well, yeah.....

Not gon a lie, I disappeared after Jimmy went down and we put CJ back in.

With all the injuries and losing football it felt like it wasnt with the time for me. Sorry.

But Kudos to Thl for carrying it in as I'm sure a lot of folks are curious how we dominated the raiders.

id rather look at film breakdowns instead of asses any day of the week. you guys are losers
Wow, what I learned from Page 36 is that Derek Carr is awful.
You can give some credit to our Defense creating some pressure, but the play-calling really exploited our coverages. The throws were 100% there for him to make. I see a lack of pre-snap diagnosis and absolute timidity in the pocket. Carr has to be done in Oakland.

Thanks as always for the film breakdowns. This is my favorite thing about the WZ

LOL. Race you over there?
The fapping on this thread is much more discreet. On the other one, you always worry about someone capable of seeing over your shoulders.

Yeah I think there needs to be some sort of on the fly communication that has to take place to defend these type of Switch Vertical concepts. What you suggested is one way to defend it (Spoon pass off the former #1, cover the new #1). This has happened too many times for them to not have an answer for it.
Also, I don't know why Spoon is manned up on that WR when it isn't a 3x1 formation. Usually we see this type of coverage when it's 3x1 so they ask that lone CB to man up on the 1 WR side.

I know why--crappy coaching by a defensive backs coach. Fire Hafley now!

I'll show the Mostert TD run, but wanted to preface it with his first of the game, on the first drive of the game. Split zone is a run play (inside zone blocking concept) where an inline blocker will come across the OL and block the End Man On Line Of Scrimmage (sift block). The player delivering the sift block is usually a TE, H-back, or FB since he has to block a DE or OLB. Teams are now using Jet motion to accomplish this, and the offensive player doesn't even have to actually deliver a block.
The EMOLS is the blue OLB. He has strongside contain, and has to squeeze the D gap.

At the snap, Garcon starts to fake the end around. The EMOLS is left unblocked.

The EMOLS sees Garcon and stops in his tracks thinking Garcon might receive the handoff. This is basically Garcon, a WR, 'blocking' the EMOLS (an OLB). Usually you don't want a WR blocking an OLB, but this makes it work. The D gap is not squeezed.

The fake end around also momentarily freezes the orange safety coming down in run support, buying Mostert another step before having to encounter the safety.

+14

The TD run also had a fake around. I'll show that later.
