I think he has put too much pressure on himself and can't get back to the old jimmy we saw last yr. I think the money convinced him he IS the franchise and can't make mistakes....was overthinking and not the same gunner we saw last 5 game of 2017.

I think its more because last year he was winging it and this year they have him playing within the structure of the offense and he's still figuring things out. Matt Ryan in 2015 was a good example of that.

Agree again, and he was not playing spontaneously, he was going thru the playbook in his mind when he last yr he was spontaneous./

Eric Reid
Josh Gordon
Dante? Fowler

Admit that the offseason didn't do enough.
This, on all three, especially Josh Gordon. We can get him to a league minimum contract full of incentives. Plus, as I read it he's expressed interest in the 49ers.

Have said it before, Jimmy seemed better with just Kyle in the helmet, and not the whole playbook gameplan

This is good for his long term development. We need to be patient. I also believe his not having Goodwin these two weeks also isn't helping him.

If the QB runs right into a sack, is that on the OL? If the QB doesn't throw it and just stands there until a pass rusher finally works their way to him, is that on the OL? At least 3 of those and likely 4 were coverage sacks. Garoppolo has to get better about getting rid of the football if there is nothing there.

6 Sacks Plus 8 Hits...
A sack counts as a hit so I'm not sure why you are adding the two together.
Hits are plays knocking down the QB after the pass.

Agreed. Goodwin stretches the defence. Garcon, Pettis, Kittle, Taylor aren't the type of receivers who threaten to burn you deep unless it's after the catch.

Goodwin not only scares his opposition with speed but he makes safeties nervous too which can open space elsewhere.

Probably so … it sure isn't good for my heart and blood pressure
What happened to Pettis. Got hurt, came back, but was quiet after that
We are now 16-3 against the Lions since 1984.
I feel kind of bad for the Lions... They're going to get destroyed on prime time next week.

To replace who?

Call Cleveland and offer whatever they want for Gordon. Either our receivers are trash and cant beat the coverage or Garoppolo is not who we thought he was. At this point Im more inclined to believe our receivers cant separate.

For a guy who is one failed drug test from being out of the league permanently?

The NFL counts sacks as hits. If you had 6 sacks and 8 hits, that means the QB was hit 8 times period, not that the QB was sacked 6 times and then hit 8 more times after that.

Long term he is better off running the entire playbook, even with all the growing pains that may come as a result of that.

There is work to be done but we won by a slim margin rather that lost by one. Super sweet imo.

Arrow is still pointing up.

I wonder if Garap is overcompensating for last weeks picks by holding the ball that long though.

Yeah. My thought was the coaching staff must have got on him for throwing picks last game so he didn't throw any this game. Just ate the sack. that's an improvement over the last game. Now if he can get rid of the bal out of bounds rather than take the sack, things will be moving in the right direction.
Know that it sunk in, I remember last year we had to bring our A game just to be competitive. Today we play like crap and still won, progress guys.
