Yup. You are correct. If they can just get better at rushing the passer (which I doubt will happen any time soon) it's going to be a very long season.

This team isn't even clearly better than the Cards.

We have managed 46 points in 2 games while they have managed 6.Our D has given up 51 while theirs has given up 58.

To replace who?

Call Cleveland and offer whatever they want for Gordon. Either our receivers are trash and cant beat the coverage or Garoppolo is not who we thought he was. At this point Im more inclined to believe our receivers cant separate.

For a guy who is one failed drug test from being out of the league permanently?
And? If we trade for him hes on his rookie contract, what do we lose out on besides the pick? And i highly doubt that pick is going to be all that high. Better to keep trotting out these mediocre receivers?

I dont even blame Jimmy for most of those sacks (though he should have thrown the ball away). Whenever they showed the rest of the field, everyone was covered. No one was winning their matchup.

For a guy in JG's position, you do not offer whatever another team wants. A conditional pick is more of a fair offer.

We are in year 2 of a complete rebuild, not a team with a 38 year old FQB whose window is on the verge of closing. We need Goodwin back and we need to continue to develop our young talent.

If we can get JG on a fair deal, fine. But we do not need to be overly desperate.

Didn't JG just get released ?
The missed tackles were awful. Stop trying to be a homing missile when you can't even hit the target.

unless somethings changed, the browns announce theyd release him monday but would rather trade him....totally a browns move. Announce youll cut him then ask for trades

You can say the same thing about the offense
Wow. Based on what I have seen these past twp weeks we are not yet even remotely good. Garoppolo is ok, but far from genuinely good, the offensive line sucks, the receivers drop too many passes, the defense can't tackle with any consistency and have mental breakdowns far too often...not enough "can't miss" studs to help hold things together on either side. We and the Lions are in a dead heat talent-wise from what I saw, and that is bad because they suck. I have zero hope of beating Mahomes and the Chiefs next week, and if I had to guess we are a 7-9 team at best this year. The coaching needs to improve by a lot as well--the playcalling was kind if terrible today.

The Lions won 9 games last year. I think people got too amped up over the results from Week 1. The Jets aren't that good and the Lions aren't that bad. I didn't expect it to be that close but I was counting on something along the lines of 24-17.

I was talking to my dad about a month ago and I was saying exactly that. Detroit is a borderline playoff team and Stafford is a very good QB. Better than any QB we've had since Young, though hopefully that changes soon.

Sure. Is it likely? Not really. Their defense has a ton of holes in it but that offense is unbelievably hot right now. They'll taper off eventually but I don't expect it to be next week. 49ers should be able to get at least 30 points again next week. Minus Berry, nothing about their secondary impresses me and it is a worse one than what Detroit trotted out today.

Yes, of course we have a chance to win next week... the lotto that is.

Beating Chief?. F**K NO!!!

We're damn lucky to win today.

Yup just rest our starters and play our bench.

And this is why I said Saleh is on the hot seat this season. It's not the talent, it's the huge mental errors. Our guys aren't even in the RIGHT SPOT. That's the issue.

It's one thing to get beat by superior talent a play here and there but LB + DB's constantly missing tackles and allowing first downs on 3rd and long. DB's getting caught looking in the backfield and allowing long completions. If Stafford was on today the Lions would have had 4-5 more td's today. These things are not being corrected series to series or quarter to quarter or even half to half. I hope KS doesn't lose the season before addressing this. Not looking good for the Niners.

Yup. Save them for Chargers (why risk injuries).

Today was a disgusting win. Their oline / dline is not better than ours, but they got 6 sacks and better play from their QB

Breida bailed us out. The refs / Lions' penalties bailed us out. They would've handed us our asses if we played in Detroit by 3 TDs (at least)
If you don't watch the last 10 minutes, it was a really good game to watch.

Not really. Garropolo took way too many sacks, aside from the poor O-line play. Tackles missed throughout the game (DB's often looked clueless). Missed redzone opportunities. Aw, why beat a dead horse. This is not an auspicious start to the season.
