⛏ SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS vs DETROIT LIONS 🦁 GAMEDAY THREAD - 2018 Season Week 2

So you prefer previous years when we would have let games like this slip away?
You can always find something to complain about even in a win. I remember when the Niners beat Denver 55-10 in the Super Bowl that there was a couple of plays that Montana didn't see a wide open receiver. It could have been 69-10!

Oh, one more thing. Thom Brennaman is horrible. I sincerely hope he isn't calling any more 49ers games because that was atrocious. From a shoddy understanding of the rules, to getting players names wrong(Fred Taylor?) to making some absurd, hopelessly nonsensical statements, it was a complete s**tshow from what is supposed to be a professional broadcaster. He needs to stick to baseball.

He kept saying lions were "wide open" when there were niners right there. I get if he says well there's a window there.... But wide open means no one around
Glad I'm not the only one that was puzzled by his definition of wide open.

Marvin Jones was open pretty much the whole game.

Hey we won. Celebrate today and look at the film tomorrow.

Meh, I'm happy they won, but I think the Refs helped much more than I'd like for that. Tackling was atrocious - when the pass rush forced a dump off to a RB, the defense couldn't tackle and prevent RAC's. Disappointed in that.

The refs helped Detroit catch up just as much.

I don't think it should be a game that the 49ers should have nearly survived .this team should be a better version of last year team but they're were one play away from losing if it wasn't for the ref.

Even Sherman is saying that this win feels like a lost

Something I noticed, I don't remember if it was spoon ward or Williams but they didn't get enough depth on a play to cover a deep route. The LB was really late coming over to cover the shallow route and the DB tried covering both which really created both WRs to be open. Stafford threw the deep route for a TD.

This is the stuff I hope we clean up.

The telecast was bad but on this play the color guy was right. Ward played that play terribly. It was 3rd & Goal from the 15 yard line - so protect the goaline. Ward jumped a harmless route in the flat and left Colbert out to dry. Terrible understanding of down and distance there. This play and the 3rd & 17 were the two major gaffes by the defense.
To put things in Perspective on how pathetic our O-line plays.

Eli Harold sacked Jimmy G

But they racked up 190 yards rushing and we are talking about why Jimmy held on to the ball for too long. That can't happen if the OL played pathetic.

The OL was actually pretty solid. The game film will reflect that as well. They did well run and pass blocking. Good game overall. RG was the only real weakness but we expected that going in.

The commentators bugged the hell out of me but they were right on this and inthink it's what had Sherman so incensed.

Sherman said in his conference that Saleh called an amazing game but the secondary f**ked up the execution and it was basics.

Hopefully we get some stability at the o-line to get some of these guys to gel

The run blocking should see the biggest improvement once everyone is on the same page. They need to settle on a constant starter at RG, whoever it is needs to be left in there to develop chemistry with Richburg and McGlinchey.

1. Worst tackling I've ever seen
2. O-line just as bad as last year? Made a Anseh-less Lions defense look like the Vikings
3. Wide receivers not getting open
4. Awful red zone play and no well put-together drives; benefited from a huge kick return and Breida's TD
5. The serious confidence they over-achieved with in the last 5 games this year is now the reverse--they're playing even worse than they are...like a team that's scared and is no longer buying into their own hype and, instead, realizing "hey, we're really not good".
6. Injuries, injuries, injuries

Can we also talk about how much they had to rely on Stafford over-throwing and Lions receivers dropping the ball? That bailed them out A LOT.

This is a really BAD team.

Looks and plays like a Mike Nolan six-win team. The front office and staff need to be scrutinized for doing almost nothing other than lucking in to Garoppolo who looks like he'd rather be elsewhere too.

This is funny. I'd suggest you watch Arizona or Buffalo if you want to see a really bad team. How often did Mike Nolan's teams put up 30? Or better yet, do you think it's likely that we average 23 ppg the rest of the way? I'd say so, based off what we saw last year and the first two games. How many Nolan coached teams averaged just 20 points per game?

How fast did the sack come? How many seconds?

My cable has been down for 2 days after the super typhoon and I missed the game. Can someone tell me how did we go? Am I right to say even though we won, we played like crap as I've read some negative comments on our performance?
