I got to know Keith Fahnhorst and Cas Banaszek when they were part owners in the Tarr and Feathers Salon in Palo Alto. Keith went on to own several Burger King franchises and Cas went into the electronic sales business with a SV rep. I met John Brodie one night when he came into the Tarr. He stayed for at least an hour. I also met Cedric Hardman 2 different times and had a nice conversation with Lawrence Pillars after they won the SB. I got Wendell Tyler to sign my 1985 Niner yearbook. I met Hugh McElhenny at a 49er booster club meeting. He was standing at the bar before the meeting and I told him he was my idol when I was a kid.

I met Jerry Rice at the DMV. He was driving a red Ferrari. He got out of it at the same time I got out of my car. I just said hi and he waived back. No big conversation. He walked right to the front of the line.

I met Dwight Clark several times when he owned C;arks By the Bay. He somtimes hosted there and would pass out the menus. He was a very nice and humble man.

Haha that is great! Usually, trips to the DMV suck...until.. lol. That is a great story. Also, a perk of being The Goat..no DMV lines? Nice. Haha. What's anyone gunna say? "Hey man, I know you are Rice but I have been here for 4 hours, what gives?" Haha

I forgot my encounter with Charles Haley. I was at Sports City Cafe in Cupertino on a Friday after work. Eric Wright< Keena Turner and Haley all came in. Terry Greer, as WR also was there. Haley got a little drunk from drinking Long Island iced teas. I was at the bar with 2 women sitting to my left. Haley leans in on my right and starts talking to the women. He tells them my buddy, what's your name again (i told him Mike). He continued my buddy Mike told me if I came down here he would introduce me to a couple fine looking ladies. One of them said if he's your good buddy, why didn't you know his name. That's when he said he had too many Long Island iced teas. He eventually walked away and continued to bounce around the restaurant. He looked like a giant baby in his one piece baby blue workout suit.

Apparently he rode with Turner and Wright who left without hm. He started looking for I ride home and when he looked in my direction I hoped he didn't remember our earlier conversation. Last thing I needed was to have to drive a drunk Charles Haley home or where ever he was going.
