Kyle lied.

If I were Lynch I'd place a very, VERY high price for Mullens. I trade C. J. But hands off Mullens.

nothing lower than a 5th rounder.
Hell no I said a high price. Nothing less than a 2nd, or a very high 3rd.

I would keep him so that we don't NEED to draft another back up QB

If we want lower round draft picks we shouldn't trade the one's we have.

Agreed. That's the purpose of such a high price for him. It's signals to other teams we're not interested in letting him go.

Respectfully, that's besides the point. They have nothing to do with Mullens. The point is to signal to teams we're not interested in trading so don't even bother asking.
Damn hero you get down with that f**king analysis bro!

We were hardly middle of the pack. Unless you define middle as anything between first and last.

Completely agree. No mid round pick will provide what Mullens does, a capable backup with knowledge of the system and tools to improve.
Shouldn't this thread be locked? It's supposed to be about actual coaching staff changes. Not all the changes we would like to see.

middle of the pack?/ we could not win on the road and ended up with four wins could not force turnovers. could not tackle. gave up pass plays like handing out xmas candy and gave up tons of points.. please ,. lets not get nuts around here. we are still in the bottom tier

Unless you really think he is a product of the system and coaching...then maybe you let him go. I think he is worth more to the team immediately than a pick, but if you have faith that the system can crank out guys like this fairly regularly like New England or Andy Reid's Eagles...then that is a different story.

Hafley out, who's in? A number of young DBs on this roster that need development (TMoore, Colbert, Reed, Harris, Spoon). This seems like a very important hire being that Saleh's background is LBs. Some names that have been mentioned as possible replacements:

Marquand Manuel (fired as ATL DC):
- 8 year safety in NFL; 7 years coaching, 2 as DC
- ATL runs a similar scheme to the 49ers

Steve Wilks (fired as ARI HC):
- 12 total seasons as DB coach (CHI, LAC, CAR); 1 year DC; 1 year HC
- predominantly zone scheme in CAR

Perry Fewell:
- 12 years DB coach
- 9 years DC (BUF, NYG)

We certainly need a good teacher for all the young backs. I would for either of those guys. With so many staff openings around the league with all the HC firings, I just wonder if either would consider a step down to DB coach from where they were.

Perhaps creating an Assistant DC position for Wilks or Manuel such as what Dallas did with Kris Richard would work. Let them focus on the DBs while Saleh overseers the whole deal.

I posted in the Hafley thread, I'm expecting Manuel to be the guy. I expect any day for this to happen. He had a quick run as the DC in Atlanta but he is a respected db coach.

Yep. Kyle reportedly tried to hire Manuel as DC when he was hired but Atlanta shut that down. I'd be surprised to not see him brought in considering their prior relationship.
One man I felt did some decent work while he was here, and in Atlanta
Who I think was not given a fair chance and I would love to see back
