I think this is the end of the wide 9 in SF. I don't expect someone to get promoted from the staff nor bring in someone from the outside to learn the current defense.

Was Cleveland running it? Has Jim Schwartz evolved it any? Wide 9 isn't the problem. Lack of run stoppers, edge setting, etc was the issue.

Yeah, Schwartz is still running the wide 9. That's his baby. I agree that the wide 9 itself isn't the problem. We need the bodies to stop the run.

If you are a defensive lineman and want to receive an increase in pay, go to San Francisco (similar to playing with Mahomes and earning a pay bump the next year). Also known as the Kris Kocurek School of Rehabilitation cc @robertmays pic.twitter.com/xu4uYVfpsC

Dude has Christmas every March, April & December and if he's really been nice, October too.
That said, he's certainly got the most of the 🎁 he's been given, hence all the 🎁.
It's nice to be Kris Kocurek. Kris Kocurek is nice.
PS: His mouth is naughty though.

Thought it'd be the case but had to ask Kris Kocurek if Staley would influence how they play on DL. He said they might use some different fronts but he was very adamant they will remain an attacking front. pic.twitter.com/7qbS6ndIMu

That's a great question. Ted Nguyen needs to cover the 49ers exclusively.

The Wilks blame can only go so far though if we keeping it real. When you have to blame the DC for not "scheming" blitzes or pressure, that means the front 4 isn't getting the job done. And that included Bosa.
The whole basis of using the wide-9 is being able to get home with 4, allowing for more guys in coverage.

I absolutely put the bulk of the blame on Wilks . It was a s**t show out there and the outlier of all of their DCs. All the issues that plagued him in the past reared their head last season

Wilks may not have done enough, but I'm not in the meeting room. What I can see with my own eyes is that losing Omenihu and Ebukam hurt. Drake was poop. Gregory and Chase were meh. AA was playing on one foot and there wasn't a true 2i that could hold his ground against the run.

Super disappointing, The d Line play was awful in comparison to previous years. Specifically the lack of effort :/ their effort in the NFCC first half was disgusting.
I hope we find out what was really going on there, was it the band aid guys we got?Wilks lack of coaching? Both?
im really hoping we see a resurgence this year. Last year we were very top heavy with poor depth on the d line. This year should be much better
