Wilks may not have done enough, but I'm not in the meeting room. What I can see with my own eyes is that losing Omenihu and Ebukam hurt. Drake was poop. Gregory and Chase were meh. AA was playing on one foot and there wasn't a true 2i that could hold his ground against the run.

If only we kept either Omenihu or Ebukam....

Pinned hopes on Jackson. I'm hoping it's because he actually showed something in practices. I was a huge fan of both, moreso Omenihu. It's interesting the money they ended up having to pay out once they decided to rebuild the line.
At some point, Kocurek bears some responsibility for the lack of lane integrity by the DL. Everyone knows that the Wide 9, with its large gaps between the linemen, is susceptible to runs up the middle, as well as allowing an escape lane up the middle the the QB if lane integrity is not maintained. This was a big problem today and has been in the past.

Kocurek with his spit-fire attitude is a favorite with fans but he should not be allowed to let everything fall on Sorenson. He must be held accountable for the lack of discipline by his position players.

Overrated at this point. Brady called out the lines lack of discipline a few times and Mahomes burned it.
Still feel like we need a bigger body at DT

I guess if we had a guy so big and fat he couldn't leave his rush lane it might do the trick.
Maybe he's no longer that "raccoon on meth" on the practice field

I actually really like Brady, he doesn't exactly have that broadcasting voice, but the man knows football. He flat out said the front 7/rush has to marry the secondary and its coverage. We are still not doing that. Is it coaching or personnel or both?

I like Brady too. Thought he gave good insight during the game. But the topic of lane integrity is a problem. And Reid exploited that once again

Both. We have no proven depth behind Lenior and Ward. And our safeties aren't very good. I do like what I'm seeing from MM. Our coaches run the system as if we still have a dominant front 4 that can get home. That's just not the case.

I agree. We for sure no longer own the trenches. That's certainly because of all the misses in the draft and fa. We aren't horrific, but not what we were. Weak up the middle etc sigh.

There is miscommunication every week in the secondary, Guys not knowing where to line up.

I get what you are saying. However, there comes a time when emotion and intensity are not enough. Players MUST have technique AND discipline. Instead of a bunch of mad dogs, it must be a controlled swarn to contain the QB. Yesterday, and in numerous other games, the DTs are pushed to one side or the other and a hole opens up the middle. Or, the Edges push past the QB, and the QB is allowed to escape outside. All of that is a lack of discipline. That falls on the position coach.

Sacks are important, but not at the expense of losing control over the quarterback. Mahomes and others have exploited that repeatedly. Consistent pressure is more important than sacks. A tight collapsing pocket is very difficult to throw from. A forced throw under pressure that results in a pick is more valauable than a sack.

Shanahan, Sorenson, and Kocurek need to re-think the integration of the front 7 and the secondary. The Wide 9 has become well known around the league, and the smarter coaches (and QBs) have adjusted and know how to take advantage of of the weakness in the system. It is time to make some adjustments. Change up the alignment and scheme. Yesterday Spag was constantly moving people around and changing the scheme, and it confused blocking assignments and Purdy's reads. He is the benchmark. Go study.
