I always Deebo had good speed and played faster than his 40. Some guys carry pads well. Deebo is one of those guys.

Which is why I don't care too much about 40's at the combine. It really means nothing if they can't, as you say, carry it to the field. That's all that counts. Most of these guys will never run another 40 in their life. If they made them run it in football gear it would have more meaning. That gear not only weighs quite a bit but the knee pads and hip girdles really slow most guys down.

They should have players run the 40 with full gear. And if you're a RB/TEWR, you should run holding a ball
MAN,

If i was running the combine, I'd have a 7 on 7 drill w/o tackling to see if QBs can read, DBs and LBs can cover.

This is a great idea.

I think players would avoid coming to the combine for risk of injury. If I were a player, I would not attend the regular combine. f**ken watch my film, I have nothing to prove trying to bust my ass training for non-live tackle football related skills. Sorry, but I will be busy training for tackle football related abilities instead.

Agreed, and I doubt any top QB prospects would participate in that type of drill.

What will a bunch of competitive tackle football players do in a 7on7 drill with Millions on the line?

Also, 7on7 is not real football and wouldn't tell you anything about a QB that will face a live pass rush in a real game situation.

What if they had a 5 MISSISSIPPI rush?

for QBs - it's all about reading the coverage and the decision making.

for DBs - this should eliminate the "numbers" game.

You know they play competitive football prior to the draft to look at things like that.

This guy should be our #1. Hopefully it's sooner rather than later

Very good point, pad strength and playing speed is very important. Game speed is crucial... Deebo should have a really good season
BTW, How much does a modern NFL uniform weigh? What about just a players helmet. I remember a uni gets a heck of a lot heavier in the bad weather.

He and Pettis will be the 1 and 2 IMO, I don't care which is 1 or 2, as long as they both produce, add in Hurd as the big Slot, and Goodwin as the speedy deep threat, and I love our WRs to be honest.
