He's still a beast, though, especially once he has the ball In his hands.

It is interesting listening to JTO. Was that sack on Deebo not hustling, or was it timing as a late leak out?

I counted 2 catchable balls from memory he needed to catch, he tried 1 handing them. One would have been an impressive catch, but uncontested.

Look I dont want to take anything away from Deebo's performance because he played a very good game. Best in a while. We needed him to step up big for us and he came through in a big way. That being said there is a difference between Deebo running with the ball in his hand Vs. Deebo without the ball in his hands. There is a difference when the play is designed to get him the ball vs. a play that he is a secondary option, just another cog, or a decoy. It might have just been he was tired, as we asked a lot more of him this game. I just don't ever remember watching a game and ever questioning plays like that with Ayiuk. To many times last night I remember thinking we looked slow during pass plays without Aiyuk. And Deebo is clearly not slow. It does feel like on certain pass plays he is playing at different levels of speed. IMO it happened to many times last night for my liking. I dont think it will be as a big of problem though once Aiyuk is back and Deebo can get more rest during the game.

yupp

Great player, but he is an add on type player...

Such a massive difference in watching CMC in the flats and Deebo in the flats.

It is hard to build a timing based passing offense around Deebo, you will get different levels of engagement from down to down.

The 49ers, and Purdy...really need the FO to find another outstanding rout runner. They need a guy that is where he is suppose to be...when he is suppose to be there.

Everyone loves Deebo, glad we have Deebo....but your observations are legitimate....

I agree on finding that outstanding route runner. I essentially want an Aiyuk clone with some speed lol. Im not sure I like the add on title unless you mean the offense can more consistently go through guys like CMC and Aiyuk, then Deebo,Kittle, and Juice supplement what CMC and Aiyuk do (though I do believe Juice can be a consistent and regular target in the passing game).

Kyle saw this coming, and to think that he isn't the GM is naive to say the least. The reason Deebo got paid was because of how important KYLE feels he is to this offense, and because he knows they'll be able to resign Aiyuk. The physicality that Deebo brings not only bleeds over to other players, it personifies this team as a whole.
I knew that Deebo looked a great game and beat the giants. He is also cool because he is super captain. Whooo.. I think the guys were rally from him..

I love Deebo's YAC plays but it's not sustainable. He will not make it through the season and the playoffs playing like this. We've already had injuries to Aiyuk and now Jennings. Kyle needs to dial down on the YAC plays.

He is a great player. But this is the downside to Shanahan's insistence on YAC. The skill players take a lot of punishment. That kind of abuse can shorten the careers of some. There was a day and age where Deebo could bounce right back up and keep going after taking abuse like this in every game he played in. But that day and age may be coming to a close. Perhaps Deebo should hit the turf if he's already managed to earn that first down. We are going to need this guy later in the season. It would be a crying shame if we lost him to serious injury.

3rd down YAC is what the WCO is all about. As for using up Deebo, Christian can do YAC, Kittle can do YAC, and so can Aiyuk. They will spread the YAC abuse around. They have the depth. No getting around football, it's all about blocking and tackling. This isn't flag football. Having said that, 49ers are smart to allow their players to recover. They didn't play Aiyuk in the Giants game, and they may not play Deebo if he can't go 100% in the Cardinal game. Aiyuk should be back for the Cardinal game - knock on wood. But yeah, the trainers and the medical guys have to do their job and - sometimes - protect the players from themselves, in some cases.

YAC may be our downfall IMO. You need these players to be at full strength in the playoffs. Rib and shoulder injuries don't heal fully very quickly and if they're playing through it, they will obviously get worse. We need less YAC to keep our team healthy. That Deebo 4th quarter highlight reel was great viewing but totally unnecessary.

70% of Purdy's passing yards against NYG were YAC.

You got to be kidding me. YAC is the West Coast offense and got us 5 super bowls.

He gettin paid.. if the game is out of reach, then yes, we should go ez on Deevah.. but if he is needed, I say he gettin paid and use him to the max.. he ain't worth nothing if he's healthy watching the playoffs at home..
We don't need him to beat the Cardinals just like Aiyuk wasn't needed against the Giants. He should take the time to heal up to face the Cowboys.

do not underestimate those Cards.. they have always given this team a game even in the 80s..

I agree. They actually could be 3-0. Had late leads against Washington and NYG. Still I think our defense will create enough havoc that we won't need our customary 30 point performance to win.

His highlight reel 4th quarter YAC led to his rib injury. We already had 11 points on the Giants at that point. We have the talent to not require these YAC plays that lead to unnecessary injuries. We are already 3 games in with injuries to our top 3 receivers.
