It is not. If we RELEASE him it would be $14 mil hit. If we TRADE him we save 6.8

Technically it would be 21 mil dead money hit but we'd still save money 6.8 million worth

PRE-6/1 RELEASE
2024 Dead Cap: $42,765,000
2024 Cap Savings: $-14,131,245

PRE-6/1 TRADE
2024 Dead Cap: $21,793,000
2024 Cap Savings: $6,840,755

I'd rather keep both and let Armstead walk when his contract ends

Ah that makes sense, I didn't realize the trade/vs release.

So it basically all comes down if a team is willing to take on the remaining of his contract while still giving us fair value. Is that value enough to get rid of Deebo to open 6.8mil of cap scape?

So unless we get some good compensation, it's still not worth to trade him this year. Following year if there are no takers for him, we can make him a Post June 1 cut anyways.

This team is going to lose a lot of good players in 2025 either way, might as well keep this core together for one more year and see what happens.

I personally wouldn't trade him. But if INDY offered me say their 46 for him. I'd think about it. Then I'd take McConkey at 31 then could go OT at 46

McConkey for 5 years or Deebo for 1?(or 2seeing how he has 2 years left) you'd likely be getting same level of OT from 31 to 46.

If I got an early to mid 2nd I'd think about it for sure.

That's funny because I also see Indy as the best option for us if a trade were to happen.

I think it's a bit too much of a gamble when you're talking late first / 2nd round pick though. If he can stay healthy I expect at least another good year from Deebo, and he does play a big part in our locker culture. I feel like we need to run it back one more year and whatever happens after the following season deal with it then.
Why are people talking about trading Deebo? bc he got clamped in the SB with a tweaked hamstring and bruised shoulder? sure he can play better without the ball in his hands but does that really warrant a trade? He is a nightmare for CB's to tackle

The bolded is main reason why I would find it hard to trade him. Not so much because of his on field skills.
Trade him now, aiyuk more important and draft luke McCaffrey, we will be alright , deebo got lazy after he got paid

He had one good game last year against Philly and he was pretty non factor all year

I think most would prefer Aiyuk over Deebo right now, mostly because Deebo can't stay healthy, but hopefully we keep both for at least one more season.

Yeah nightmare to tackle, and he really is a gadget. Notice he sucks at getting open, as you mention. So you gotta hand it to him, or screen it to him. In the drop back pass game, he's a liability. A RB playing WR. Brock drops back and he got a guy taking consistent Ls, that makes his job harder.

Deebo had a year of what 1500 yards receiving. You don't have to be the best route runner in the league to get open. He gets open. One of the best cb groups in the whole league shut him down. I can never understand why our fans always want to get rid of our star players.

Deebo had no such year, he had 800+
you must refer to the contract year

1405 in the contract year
and 2717 in 4 other years, so 679 average in the non bag years

2021 was his breakout, and teams figured out how to defend this dude, he is also no longer chasing the bag

I personally love Deebo and for me the main issue is his health which is a concern at this time, but we all knew with his play style and how Kyle will beats a man into the ground..... was a likely scenario.

I think if he proves hurt a bunch again next season the moving talk makes more sense, but not now. Also while he doesn't get massive separation, he still does most of the time and has the proper, accurate QB to get it to him, but you know... he cant be dropping those passes like he did in the SB.
