The sad part is we knew this last year. Ge can still be effective, but needs space to maximize his skillset. With that said Deebo is a catcher in traffic, so he can still get a pass as long as the ball is perfectly on target. That requires great pass protection, which we don't prioritize.

Then we allegedly draft Pearsall (I know he's unavailable), Cowing, and Guerendo to get more speed on the field and to have guys to beat man coverage. But we don't use them for the typical Shanahan reasons.

So we trot out the same old stuff while the rookies get up to speed instead of creating situations where the rookies cam be successful. Im believe that even if Pearsall could play now, he'd still be standing on the sidelines doing nothing. There's no reason to not mix in Cowing and Guerendo to force teams into more favorable coverages so Deebo, Kittle, and to a lesser extent Aiyuk can go off. We have enough offense to cover up for our defense against everyone with the exception of top tier teams.

Deebo didn't lose his abilities after being out a week. He had over 200 yards receiving through the first 3 games. It ain't him that's the problem. You put players in situations where they can succeed. We are not right now.

Thank you. He isn't a phenomenal separation guy, but Kyle always got the ball into his hands. So far the offense is just sputtering and confused and it cant be as simple as CMC can it? Mason is running better than he has lol And also not even bad in the receiving game.
I love him but we will need to use his money for more important positions.

You're probably correct. We need to overhaul d line and o line.

If he can come back to old form, sign Greenlaw.
We need Cowing Pearsall to get on the field. Deebo does little as a WR.

He is a situational player that needs to be schemed open and even then his YAC yards have declined.

Dude is washed and being paid huge $ to do virtually nothing.

He vanished in the SB, should have been traded after that.
if we have jennings and aiyuk on the outside, we should use deebo more in the backfield to give mason a break

15 carries so far 36 yards. He's averaging 2.4 a carry and it was worse than that to start the season...

Somebody posted the receiver web for the niners earlier on separation and deebo was averaging 0. The NFL average is 3 yards of separation amongst all wr. Deebo was at 0 literally never open.

Honestly he's washed

He can't break tackles anymore and he's got weak hands for contested catches. Brock purdy is the only thing making him look even serviceable...

Look at the stats...

He needs more help but still can be effective. He isnt going to dominate by sheer will, but prior to this game he was on pace for a pretty good season. We have to use our personnel better- the entire 53 man roster AND the practice squad.
I think many knew Deebo would have a short career given his style of player and injuries. I think it's a little sooner than expected but there were signs of slow down for a couple seasons now since his peak.
I dunno how. much help they can give Deebo.....There is only so much smoke and mirrors that can be used for a WR that appears to be slowing down before our eyes, especially one that does not go full out every down, and was marginal as a pure WR to start with.

The offense is having to adapt to the ultimate miss-direction guy who can no longer use his "gravity" to manipulate the defense.

Of course it is all relative....IF we toss out games he missed, and performed poorly in....basically take his 3 best games this year...and averaged it...he would hit 1000-1100-ish yards zero TDs.... he would need around 130 targets to get there. That is starting to approach Jerry Rice territory. That 135-150 target range is what Jerry got.

But.... That is all fantasy... Deebo likely can't go the whole season, and if he did...he would need to take too many plays off and other people on this offense are too talented to force feed Deebo the ball.

Best Deebo is decoy Deebo, and that is not working well right now, he just appears to not be the threat he once was.
Think about this. Between aiyuk and deebo that's sunk in 55 million a year. Justin Jefferson's getting 35 million a year. I'd rather have Jefferson for 55 a year than deebo and aiyuk and we could have paid him far less than that

Jefferson never disappears for games.

Deebo is gone after this season. Sucks because he's a legacy player and tone setter when he can get the ball in space but this is his last season in SF.

That is a real issue, there is a ton of money being spent that is not regularly impacting games..on both sides of the ball.

I think we got really unlucky the quality of play did not drop off last year....in hindsight...it would be easier to ramp up for phase 3 without massive contracts on the books.

This team needs to transition from the gimmick offense of old, to a more traditional offense over the next few years.

This sucks even more because they really do need someone who can scare a defense deep to push the safeties back, and they drafted 2 more rout runners.

This team really cannot afford to draft another WR high, but...damn....do they need a different type of WR.
