All the hoopla was Deebo was playing his butt off considering it's near contract talks again next year hence he changed to jersey number 1. Guess that didn't amount to anything.

Jefferson never disappears for games.

you'd take Jefferson because you're a smart dude... Kyle just believes he can make any mediocre player be good..

Didn't he get like a 2yr deal from us unexpectedly this year?
Where was he in the cardinals game it's like he disappeared after the few touches he had?

His route running was never good but now he's not giving them much as a runner out of the backfield.

Nope. He's done at the end of the year. He's overpaid and underperforming

That is a real issue, there is a ton of money being spent that is not regularly impacting games..on both sides of the ball.

I think we got really unlucky the quality of play did not drop off last year....in hindsight...it would be easier to ramp up for phase 3 without massive contracts on the books.

This team needs to transition from the gimmick offense of old, to a more traditional offense over the next few years.

This sucks even more because they really do need someone who can scare a defense deep to push the safeties back, and they drafted 2 more rout runners.

This team really cannot afford to draft another WR high, but...damn....do they need a different type of WR.

Danny Gray and I'm being serious. Unless he has the hands of Ronnie Bell, why not? I'm talking practice squad. I've never of him being so awful in camp that he warrants being cut. Seems like just a guy, but we have a lot of JAGs right now- none that have his skillset.
Anyone else concerned about his contract restructure? Does that preclude us from moving on after this season? He's washed up. Granted, he's still hard to tackle once he gets going—but it's near impossible to get him the space to pick up steam at this point on his career.
Game film doesn't lie - Deebo's effort on his routes this past game was often outright pathetic. Multiple times he didn't draw his coverage away to help the play succeed. Could have even had a TD if he sells his route against a LB on one of the red zone trips.

Credit to jonnydel for the breakdown.

Deebo is always like that. If he is not getting the ball he makes sure the defense knows he is not getting the ball. You can't even use him as a decoy because he doesn't sell it. With the money he is getting he needs to be a complete WR and that means his job doesn't stop on plays where he is not getting the ball. The guy is getting paid way more than Kittle and Kittle does so much more.

This! I been saying this but people don't wanna hear or admit it. This isn't only a "this season" thing.

Well if we all see it then the coaches should've seen it. and they still felt the need to pay him. It's like rewarding your dog for bad behavior then wondering why he keeps doing bad s**t.
well I would argue that it has never been about what Deebo puts up.....

The whole idea of keeping deebo around is what deebo use to do to the defense. All that gadget stuff, all the play action of deebo behind the LOS altered the coverages the 49ers offense was seeing. All that space in the 15-25 yard area that has been open game after game was in part to how Deebo's gravity altered the defense.

Go back and watch those all-22 guys on YouTube ...like Jonny....he does not point it out that often, but Deebo had alot of defenders worried about what Deebo was doing on any given down

Deebo's primary value was how he affected things for BA, Kittle, CMC and JJ....not if Deebo got a catch here or there....

Teams just don't seem to care as much about Deebo is doing, and these WRs can't create much space on their own....at least not comparable to what the 49ers have seen in years past....

Coaches assumed the good times were going to continue to roll. I've always felt you just let his contract expire. Unless someone is giving up a 2nd, the value in trading him isn't there.
