Game film doesn't lie - Deebo's effort on his routes this past game was often outright pathetic. Multiple times he didn't draw his coverage away to help the play succeed. Could have even had a TD if he sells his route against a LB on one of the red zone trips.

Credit to jonnydel for the breakdown.

Deebo is always like that. If he is not getting the ball he makes sure the defense knows he is not getting the ball. You can't even use him as a decoy because he doesn't sell it. With the money he is getting he needs to be a complete WR and that means his job doesn't stop on plays where he is not getting the ball. The guy is getting paid way more than Kittle and Kittle does so much more.

This! I been saying this but people don't wanna hear or admit it. This isn't only a "this season" thing.

Well if we all see it then the coaches should've seen it. and they still felt the need to pay him. It's like rewarding your dog for bad behavior then wondering why he keeps doing bad s**t.

Aassumed the good times were going to continue to roll. I've always felt you just let his contract expire. Unless someone is giving up a 2nd, the value in trading him isn't there.

They had to pay him due to self preservation. Without deebo and the emergence of brock they would have all been fired because he was the entire offense the year before he was paid ...

You have to remember context. They probably already knew Lance was a huge reach and bust, possible the worst trade ever prior to Watson at that point. The only way they don't get wacked the next season is if the teams not horrible.

It's no surprise he's fallen off a cliff. He's been battered for years. It's dramatic and sad but entirely predictable.

He's a shadow of himself and they should recognize and phase him out if they are smart.
He just doesn't get open much so far this year. Also not breaking tackles anymore either. Just playing much worse so far than usual. Is he injured? Losing a step? Too banged up over years of time?
Probably injured but that doesn't excuse him from running poor routes when he knows he won't get the ball.

he was NEVER a WR.. been telling everyone here.. he's nothing more than a very good GADGET.. he's like Percy Harvin of Seattle during their Championship days..

You're probably correct. We need to overhaul d line and o line.

If he can come back to old form, sign Greenlaw.

we need to draft the kid from CAL... a very natural ILB !!
I really don't understand why we re-worked Deebo's deal. Someone a lot smarter than me when it comes to cap space explain to me why the hell we did that when we already had plenty of cap for this year? Feels like we totally handicapped ourselves in an attempt to trade Deebo and get draft compensation for next draft. We take a huge dead cap hit if we trade him before June 1st this upcoming offseason. Waiting til after the draft lowers his value and doesn't help us that season. Stupid.

Kyle loves him.

I also don't see how they can justify keeping him next season considering the production/price/usage/etc, I still think he'll go somewhere (Ravens?) and produce, so there is some value there, although he'll be 29 next year. I see him as a post june 1st cut, but I don't know the cap details.; a trade would be nice, but we shouldn't expect anything more than a 5th or 6th. He didn't fetch a high pick even in his prime, a team won't give up much for him now.

Ya it's stupid if most of what he posted was true.

Deebo has good trade value next season bc we will be on hook no matter what for about 10 mil so a team doesn't have to pay his full salary, just around 15 mil.
Need Deebo to again make plays like the playmaker he is. Want to see some of it tonight.
Another reminder many in the fanbase take Deebo for granted. What he can bring to the team.

Natural ability to break tackles..
Second gear speed to go with that ability to take it to the house.
Strong hands where finds away to come down with the ball.. Anquan Boldin like.
Can jump up high to get the ball.
Can block.

Perfect compliment to a reciever like Aiyuk or someone similar.

Yet some also want him be this all around perfect WR, as if that is mandatory to justify his pay.

What he can bring to a team, we'll see it again some where else I'm sure... then folks will wonder why he's all the sudden making plays like he "used to".

I wanted to start a thread sometime back about how he was leading the NFL in recieving (which I think some forgot) before Kyle started lining him up at RB (which was needed at the time because our homerun threat Mostert went down for the season). But for some reason when we have capable running backs, Kyle still felt the need to keep using him there...imo...unnecessarily wearing his body down.

I believe that Deebo is still around. I believe he can still lead the league in recieving if Kyle wanted him to.

As I recall that is was like week 3 or week 4 that he was leading the league, don't know how sustainable that was....but sure is better then NEVER being near the top....

I think Father Time has caught up with Deebo, and he does not have the mentality to stay near the top of his game....far too many plays off from him.....but I hope he proves me wrong...

Deebo is a really likable dude.....but we all want that first man there, last man to leave...110% all the time type of guys....and the only reason one would think the 49ers put up with Deebo not going 100% all the time....is because they know he CAN'T go 100% all the time.

Some dudes are just built like that...some dudes just do not have the stamina to go 100% all the time...
*ahem*

f**king Love Deebo... will enjoy him in this league for as long as he lasts.
