He's also dropped the ball way too much. Deebo has been awful this year even if some of what you're saying is true

Thats a bigger issue to me. If you aren't a great route runner, but have hands of glue, you can get by. Too often, I think Kyle tries to catch lightning in a bottle with Deebo. Yea, if someone takes a bad angle, or someone is out if position, Deebo can still take it to the house. But those other guys get coached and are paid too. Shanahan has to do a better job getting him in space and Deebo needs to be catching 2 out of 3 passes that come his way, minimum. Anything less and he's just an overpaid WR who needs too many touches to be nominally productive. Kyle and Deebo have to do better.

We all love the idea of Deebo and his special skills. The problem is the reality of Deebo. He is never going to be the guy we want him to be. Age, injuries and his aggressive style have caught up to him. Move him while you can get something back. Yuk might be in a similar position next year. He suffered bad injuries that may permanently diminish his abilities.

This is the correct answer. Also, even at his peck Deebo was never a great route running and ball catching WR. As his physical tools declined he couldn't rely on his fundamentals because, well, his fundamentals in route running suck.

I love when the Webzone tries to rewrite history. All the sudden Deebo can't catch... or had catching issues in the past.

I swear this place sometimes.

I have never heard of that nickname in my life.

What I remember is him jumping up high snagging all of Jimmy G's hospital passes... as well as out jumping nearby defenders for contested catches.

You've had some compelling arguments tonight. I've changed my mind…. Deebo didn't cost us the rams game. And he catches everything. He hasn't fumbled any kickoffs or tipped up any interceptions. He definitely holds his blocks.

id be surprised if he isn't a probowler this year. After all, he ran 20+mph. Only one mph less than Derrick Henry

All I've said is he is not fat and out of shape. His play shows that. He is asked to do more for the offense than other players. Run up the middle against big ass lineman, then is asked to run some routes.. take a play off.. then bam all over again. Even the stubborn idiot Kyle wouldn't put an out of shape player in that position. I have also proven that he still has his speed. That he is still one of the fastest players at his position.

I've also stated he has never had a history of being an inconsistent catcher... in fact he used to go up there a snag some tough catches, Anquan Boldin style.

Imo his issues are he is pressing, just like Brock. And when you have both the QB and WR trying to do too much or the pressure is getting to them, because of other issues with the offense (injuries/execution).. then they are going to look worse at times. Again I blame Kyle for not putting our offense in the best position. For neglecting the threat of keeping defenses honest by throwing downfield. Be it not sticking with or using deep threats, to putting the health (and conditioning/consistent play) of our players to the side... just to try to win downs each play. Running CMC to the ground last year, when we had Mason on the sidelines. Deebo should not be taking these handoffs from shutgun up the middle. Should be jet plays to the outside, like in the past (that would also keep the pass rush honest as well, helpful when you have injures and bad play by the oline). Or just other ways to take advantage of a fresh Deebo in the open field.
