Is Lamb really that much better than Aiyuk? Especially for this offense. The reason why Aiyuk was looked at as a 2nd rounder is because of his core injury that affected his speed at the combine. I still think Lamb is better but I don't think the gap is all that big.

This is his second one I believe
*If he comes back before 10 weeks re-fracture rate is about 20%
*If he comes back after 10 weeks it drops to about 10%
*Reductions in production before 10 weeks ~53%
*Reductions in production after 10 weeks ~9% https://t.co/fYq7ZicANX
He broke his fibia not foot last time.
Sounds like 10 weeks (or right after) is where it looks good
It is very hard to predict healing time for this specific fracture. That area of the foot has the lowest blood circulation of any place in the foot. From what I have read, 12 weeks is the average time for complete healing.
Considering overuse is the most common cause for this type of fracture, the chances of an early comeback would seem slim. You just don't take chances with the feet of a young, talented player like Deebo.
Indeed.

I'm in the conservative camp too esp. for a WR who'll be cutting on a dime in this offense.
Agree. It gives the other players a chance to make the 53. Injuries happen. Crabtree is one example being brought up. I'm glad they overdrafted the WR position in a sense, with Aiyuk and Jennings. The good news is that Hurd and Taylor - right now - are healthy (knock on wood). Hopefully they stay that way. But it's not how you start the season, it's how you end it. I remember the 49ers barely making it into the playoffs with a 10-6 record but came away with the first of two consecutive super bowl wins. I'll take 10-6 and making the playoffs but *everybody* is healthy, vs a 13-3 and number 1 seed and we have OLinemen out, DLinemen out, and WR's out etc...

What went wrong in Taylor's case? The surgery (Samuel is undergoing one today) didn't take. A second surgery produced an infection.
The key for Samuel: The success of today's surgery.
10 weeks I'm back better than the deebo you seen before 🙏🏾

10 weeks is not happening. I feel bad for him.
Why not? As long as his surgery has no hiccups he could very well get there. If everything goes as planned at worst he misses week 1 vs AZ. That's right around the 12 week mark.
Because setbacks happen quite often with this injury.
In August 2018, research in the Orthopedic Journal of Sports stated "50 percent of all players with a previous Jones fracture demonstrated incomplete healing. Moreover, position-specific performance scores over the first 2 years of a player's career were lower across all positions for those with fractures compared with controls." This came from reviewing every player who attended the NFL Scouting Combine between 2009 and 2015.

Hopefully, Bourne is back soon and let's let it go at that. Lousy break for him tho. Ok, us too.
Also of significance is that my Horns by report have 14 guys who tested positive for the virus and several others have the antibodies. Ouch. Gents that is NOT good news. The whole question for me has been "how can we keep the players from catching it? "
What happens when you have 14 guys with the virus? Well, you sure as heck don't play them....ummmhhh ...unless you are in China and then you send your sick players out to make the other teams as sick as yours are.
So, the real problem is going to be keeping our guys...and the rest of the league from getting exposed. That is a lot harder than some think it is. You just can't keep NFL players penned up . Just won't work.
Lastly, Guv Gavin Newsome just signed a bill or exec order requiring all people in CA to wear masks. Hallelulua. That should have happened at the same time social distancing was instituted. Better late than never Gav, but that 2400 cases/ wk, making us a leader in new cases....that got to you? Nonetheless you did sign the order/bill so good on you.
Now, let's re-look at playing football once again. With masks on? Will we be far enough along to do away with masks? Or are NFL teams going to have to play one another in pads, helmets....and MASKS? Check that out.

That article reminded KD did have this injury. He had multiple setbacks like Taylor. He needed a bone graft surgery just to save his career.

I didn't want to be the 1st one to say it, but that is in keeping with what i understood.
#1 rule in sports surgery, especially, is that post op, never plan to have it be as good as it was. There are exceptions, but they are few. Once "surgerized" things never seem to be as good as before the injury.

If everyone would have just been patient and did their part, this disease would already be in the rear view mirror. Personally I think they should have shut the world down for a month from the very beginning. Give everyone a 2 week window to do their shopping and then put everyone on house arrest for a month.

We must assume the best (10 weeks) and at the same time we must be prepared for the worst (setbacks) and now the focus is going to turn to Taylor and Hurd to be 100% healthy.
This really sucks.

This doc says weeks 8-9 after surgery for D1 Athletes.
How did that work out for Trent Taylor last season?
Yes because his foot got infected and he has to have another surgery to clean out the infection and redo the surgery.
If the surgery is a success, no infections around 10 weeks is a reasonable timetable. First game is about 12 weeks out
