Meanwhile DK Metcalf who many here claimed was a top 10 "lock" is still chilling out there.
We're now 13 picks past 36 and none of DK, Butler nor AJ Brown have been picked.

I wanted AJ Brown but maybe you guys need to realize that the people who do this for a living know a little more than us?
Simms covers Deebo here well

His #4 WR

All I know is Shanahan knows receivers better than any of us. And got a great look at him, if he approves we can't say it was a bad pick yet. Apparently no one else took AJ brown yet so we'll see what happens there

It seems pretty clear to me he's looking for Wr's that can run the entire route tree. That's Pettis and Samuel.

Am I the only one that thinks we could have taken Deebo in the third?

Again... not mad at the player, but when he was picked and who he was picked above is questionable to me.

IIRC Mike Shanahan relied heavily on two smooth WRs in Ed McCaffrey and Rod Smith.
NEs had success with smooth operators like Edelman, Welker, Amendola.
Kyle might be banking on Samuel and Pettis to be his dynamic duo that open up quick for Jimmy (no pun intended).

I do question the need to use two 2nds for these types of players. And I think Butler has the potential for the same as well as being a deep threat. But, Shanahan must've really wanted them and Lynch earmarked the pick for his coach.

Really? Another high second rounder on a wr....smh

Have you been asleep the past few months? It was pretty obvious that they were going WR in the 2nd or 3rd round. They met with more receivers than every other NFL team but one.

Guys convince me he is good. GO!

He did have 882 receiving yards for the season. 200 of those was in 1 game against the top D.

He's Golden Tate...also at 5-11 215 pounds we can use him as RB in an emergency

Deebo will play outside.
And fwiw, Shanahan signed Marquise Goodwin at a time when Goodwin had yet to amount to much in the NFL. One season under Shanahan and Goodwin nearly got 1k receiving yards with Beathard/Hoyer as his QB for the majority of the year. He uncovered Trent Taylor who prior to his back injury, looked like a steal. Bourne, who led our team in receiving last year, was a nice find for an UNDRAFTED free agent. Pettis looks promising as heck to me. Richie James could be a nice gem given a little more time. Oh and he just so happened to uncover this guy named Kittle who in college was VASTLY under utilized. Shanahan knows receivers.

Samuel Deebo'd the Senior Bowl. He and Isabella were the top WRs.

I'm gonna go streaking if they also drafted Isabella!!!

Why does Kyle like returners so much? Not a bad pick but he loves wide receiver's who are returners

Because they can slip man coverage and can take it to the house in the open field. He's confident in his ability to scheme a player open, whats the best type of player to have the ball in their hand in the open field?

This. He wants guys that can score from anywhere on the field. He doesn't want a methodical offense as much as WRs who can make a catch and house it.

Deebo is a monster with the football in his hands, more like a RB than a receiver.
From the S.C. Site. One of the most electrifying players in college football, the talented wide receiver and kick returner earned all-conference and All-America recognition... logged 86 career receptions for 1,194 yards... scored 28 career touchdowns - 16 receiving, seven rushing, four via kickoff return and one fumble recovery... also threw one touchdown pass... finished his career ranked eighth in receptions (148), 10th in receiving yards (2,076), tied for ninth in receiving touchdowns (16), tied for fourth in touchdowns scored (28), first in kick return average (29.00 first in kick returns for touchdowns (4) and eighth in all-purpose yards (3,257)... played in 30 games with 27 career starts... graduated in December with a degree in retail management... invited to the NFL Combine following his senior season.
