Wow we are guaranteed at minimum 3 of these guys being on the board at our 3rd. Hopefully WR goes fast and furious up to our pick. If the top DB's go then I say f**k it and double down on WR or edge. Value is too good.

D.K. Metcalf
Nasir Adderley
Chauncey Gardner-Johnson
Hakeem Butler
Taylor Rapp
Juan Thornhill
Deionte Thompson
Kelvin Harmon
Parris Campbell
Chase Winovich
Justin Layne

I remind those worried about injuries...Frank Gore had a huge history of injuries in college, yet he's been one of the most durable RB's in league history. Deebo will be fine...give the dude a chance to show what he's got, which is plenty of talent.

Please don't use Frank to prove people with injury issues will be fine. Frank is not the norm, not close to it.

FG is an anomaly. He played injured. I never doubted he'd be in HOF.

Lance Zierlein of NFL.com, who compares Samuel to Pharoh Cooper, wrote the following about Samuel within his scouting report:

"Tyshun "Deebo" Samuel lives up to his nickname (it comes from a tough guy in the movie "Friday") and plays each game like he's stepping into an alley fight. While Samuel is tough and competitive, he lacks suddenness and might need scheme help with motion and bunch formations to help free him against NFL man coverage.

Reminds me of Stevie Smith - tough guy who wasn't fast but always open. Samuel is built about like Smith.

Smith - 5'9", 195 - played 16 seasons, ave 14.3/catch.
Samuel - 5'11", 215
Or, Pierre Garcon - 6', 212

Am I the only one that thinks we could have taken Deebo in the third?

Again... not mad at the player, but when he was picked and who he was picked above is questionable to me.

3rd of 4th

No way Deebo lasted till 3rd or 4th rd.

Simms #1-3 are still on the board, Deebo was his 4th. Maybe he would have lasted much longer.

Based on WRs not taken yet I'm pretty confident he'd be there at top of 3rd. My comment about 4th is because that's where I think he should be drafted. He's a WR/slot/PR/KR/RB kind of player. First 3 rounds need to excel at 1 position and translates that into a NFL starting role.

You're assuming that your rankings are correct. In reality, fans are mostly clueless on valuing players properly. You had many people here advocating for Metcalf to go in the early 1st. We're almost in the 3rd round and he and Butler are both still on the board.

THIS. By that logic why was Greedy Williams the 5th cb drafted?

This is a discussion board. If its "just trust the FO" then shut it down.

It was pretty clear to anyone following the pre-draft process that the team felt that WR was a major need. You basically had Pettis, Goodwin and Trent Taylor.

If you're surprised that they took a WR, that is on you. People in the draft media that were citing the 49ers needs generally put WR near the top because it was clearly an area that needed a boost. Teams like Pittsburgh have had success drafting WRs in the 2nd or 3rd almost every single year. In a passing league it is a position of critical importance.

WR was definitely a weakness prior to the draft in my opinion. As much as I like our undrafted WR's, I wanted more talent at that spot to make it easier for our QB's. Now there is enough depth at that spot to avoid losing one wr and the offense basically taking a nose dive becuse of it.
His footwork tho

I like Deebo but I wanted AJ Brown. I also didnt want Dante Pettis last year. I trust that Kyle knows who he needs more than me.
Could have traded back and still got Deebo

Lacking suddenness could not be further from the truth

Just wish he had that break away speed

You can have breakaway speed, but cant make people miss - same thing from a different perspective. What I like is RAC's in the WCO, and I dont recall Jerry Rice ever trying out for the olympics.

You don't need to be faster than every DB when you can create huge separation off of your route running and when the ball is in your hands you can break arm tackles with ease.

I can't see this kid failing to hit his ceiling if he stays healthy. Most knew the second they saw him eating at the senior bowl that Kyle would be in love. He's going to be our #1 WR before the end of the season. Deebo, Pettis, and Kittle have a chance to be one of the best receiving trio's in football.

Why?

Deebo is slightly faster, has a bigger vertical, bigger broad jump. Aside from a 1 inch height advantage, Deebo is better in almost every way than AJ Brown.

Our tradition of second round mediocrity continues. This was a horrible reach, there's like two studs in Brown and Metcalf, but we take another undersized kick returner who will get his butt whooped by nfl sized DBs. This WR core is so f**king mediocre, and full of glass midgets. Kittle is gonna have to bail us out again, ugh.

Remember this name, cause he'll be our grief speed bag when he rips his acl before week 2.

Nobody is picking DK, what do you guys know that all the gms don't??
Looks like Shanny wants a WR corps full of versatile guys that can play multiple positions.
