I think you dead on. The Deebo pick really solidifies the type of WR Shanahan values. He had his pick of guys with all kinds of traits. Deebo show us what he values. He wants short area burst with long speed. Deebo, Pettis, and Goodwin all win with their feet during their routes. Teams are going to shade safety help to Kittle all the time, so these WRs need to be able to shake free quickly.

This. Route running machines that can get open quickly. That helps out the Oline as well.

Wish we would've gotten AJ Brown. With that said, wish today was tbe beginning of the season I already. Can't wait to see how this team performs!

I got high hopes for Deebo Samuel. I hope and expect him to become a #1 WR from day 1. This system and the new league rules should be a huge benefit to him. I really do hope he becomes the next Anquan Boldin..a beast

Well, Brown is a shade slower, worse at running routes, can't jump as high, has a slower release, and has worse hands than Deebo. Yeah, he's an inch or so taller, and did 4 more reps on the bench, but that's about it.

AJ at one inch taller can jump 36.5". Deebo can jump 39". So technically Deebo can play bigger than AJ... then add in those one handed catches with the ability to stay in bounds. I was split between AJ and Deebo, but looking further into it... Deebo has the much higher ceiling.

He could certainly play in the slot for us (along with pretty much every other WR we have!)

However I think it's telling that Kyle had him at Z all week at the Senior bowl and that Kendrick Bourne ended the season in that position. My money on Deebo at Z, Pettis at X, huge bun fight for slot.

Then rotate Goodwin in at X with Pettis going to the slot.
