I've always assumed Maiocco IS the official/unofficial voice of the 49ers. True, the 49ers don't leak - unintentionally. John has learned how to be a very savvy GM and controlling the narrative or at least countering with your own in a customer-facing (fans) business where perception is everything means a lot.

I don't think it's that deep at all…especially if you listen to the pod when Matt brought it up. It was clearly a generalization based off a comment from a yr ago…basically anyone can be traded, Kyle even said he himself is tradeable.

I mean do people really think Matt sits down and goes over his podcast with John/kyle first to push narratives? I feel like they got other s**t to worry about outside of what the Cohns of the world think. They're talking to deebo's agent and that's all that matters…they don't need to push s**t thru the media, that doesn't help anything.

NY but it's not about players being tradeable - we all know that. The point is getting the requested GTD number out there and that's what's different. Maiocco's role is to prepare fans for the possibility and other "leaks" have been about what's being asked. No it's not all that deep and "people" don't believe that Maiocco goes over his podcasts, but I'm also not so naïve to believe that Maicco's sources over the years have been extremely close to the 49er FO and that's not just me saying that, pretty much most of Niner beat media believes this. Every NFL club does this.

Really it comes down to this NY: with increased cap, the price for top talent is bound to go up. I get they are reluctant to pay but at some point in the very near future, we're going to have to pay a WR $50M guaranteed. If we have someone already who is in that class we might as well consider it. I hope we realize this sooner than later. Again NFL salaries are year to year with a HUGE up arrow.
