No, Jerry didn't mention it then. He said there were none. But by the end of the season, we had one, and his name was Deebo.
Yup....so for half a season, in his only season, Deebo was a 'dog.' Which is precisely why I'm not gonna just say 'pay the man' because so many of those contracts turn into comments like 'why did you pay that POS?'
Again...I'll let things play out.....
Which is precisely why you DO sign him but put in an out in a couple years, as almost all 49ers contracts possess.
So the 49ers can use him at RB, shorten his career, then ditch him in a couple years? No way Deebo goes for that
He might if he's paid enough in the first year (NOT talking about bonuses, which are prorated over the length of the contract).
Hence the importance of moving Jimmy ASAP, despite the claims that it doesn't matter. Make that base salary all 25 million of Jimmy's contract for this year, AND throw in a massive bonus, so he's getting 35-40 million this year (add his current 4 million to it, with the 4 and 25 breaking down as a roster bonus plus the 2022 salary. Like simply increase the 4 million he already makes with some of that 25 million, and put the rest as a roster bonus).
I am not a cap expert, but even if that specific thing cannot be done, something like it
can.
