What perspective is that? We only draft and develop players. If they want to get paid and win rings, they have to go somewhere else?

I know alot of reasons for trading has been posted. I only would if he wanted too much. I was at 22 mil/yr. I can talk myself into 25/yr. HOWEVER, I would not go a penny over that. Waaaay too much for a WR. If you sign him for too much there stands a chance You can't keep Aiyuk when his time comes. And if Aiyuk surpasses Deebo as our go to. Then we financially screwed the pooch.

Yes there is a chance you trade him and what you get in return don't turn out. Just as there is a chance if you trade him you improve your team.

The point of my initial post was, wanting to trade Deebo wouldn't make us any less of a fan than those who think we should pay him at all cost. We are just looking at roster construction from a different point of view. Yes some takes may leaving you scratching your head but there is more than one way to get to where we want to go.

If we don't find a way to extend Deebo I can see a majority of the fanbase losing faith in the front office. In particuarly, John Lynch. I am pretty sure a lot of us still have a bad taste in our mouths over the Buckner fiasco. As far as Aiyuk, that is a couple years down the road and by then the cap will have gone up significantly and other things can be done to make that extension happen.

you give big money for what you're gonna do in the future not just based off past performance.

Deebo's not worth it as a pure WR. Trade him.

IMO the only thing Lynch did wrong on the Buckner trade was draft Kinlaw. We needed and should have traded down from 13 for more picks to supplement our roster. Essentially trading him straight up for Kinlaw was never going to look good. Um! Aiyuk will be in line for an extension starting next year. He will be in the same situation as Deebo is this year. So if Aiyuk goes off for 1300 yards 10+ TD's we now have to pay 2 WRs over 25/yr.

EDIT: my bad forgot Aiyuk went in the 1st

What if we trade Deebo and Aiyuk puts up pedestrian numbers this season? Decide next year or the year after whether you want to keep Aiyuk or Deebo if we cannot financially keep both. This year is not the year to make that decision.

What if we trade Deebo and Aiyuk and the rookie we draft put up pro bowl numbers? hypotheticals work both ways.

As for this not being the year to make that decision. It very well could be. If you as a General Manager have a rough allotment for positions and it appears that between Deebo and Aiyuk you are going to greatly exceed said allotment then now would be the time to trade as Deebo's trade value couldn't be greater.

Again, i'm just playing Devil's advocate here.

You started with the hypotheticals. Honestly, we could go all day coming up with them. It doesn't matter, Deebo is the best proven weapon we have going into this season. We have basically a rookie QB starting. We need to make it as easy as possible on him going into his first full season.
Love Deebo but how much of his value is based on his new found RB role? How does he stack up as a pure WR? I just don't see $25 mil there.

Agree as well.
However there is one primary issue, Deebo should not get the super high contract after only playing mostly most of the last season, seasons before had sitting injury no playing for the most part. How about $17 million max a year till there's greater proof..

Before he was asked to play rb, he was neck and neck with Kupp for total receiving yards. He finished the season with the most yards per reception but something like 10th in targets.

Take the RB aspect away, and he's still an excellent receiver. He tore it up through the air beginning of season. He's just a great football player and well worth 25 mil.

It sucks as far as cap hit, but you know....this is what happens when you draft studs and they turn out to be really good. This is the point of everything, no? We don't go into a draft thinking "gee I hope this Deebo Samuel is average to good, but not great so we don't have to pay him that much money."

Second-round picks that include WRs Deebo Samuel, A.J. Brown and Terry McLaurin are not expected to participate in their teams' on-field off-season programs because they want new contracts at a time this off-season when WR deals have exploded, per league sources.

DaDivaRecieva19

after all he did and was the reason we won vs the rams. packers and cowboys.. and then gets low balled by lynch.. who is the diva? lynch played chicken with the jimmy thing and lost and then he low balls deebo.. lynch is really becoming a dips**t. but i get it... whatever lynch does is fine. trust the bricks

Amazing how folks turn on a guy for wanting his money. He was looking at a 1700 yard year. Sacrificed his body for the betterment of the team. Carried the team into the playoffs. Our best offensive play maker that we drafted and developed. The guy wants what the market is demanding for his talents and folks want to ship him off and down play his contributions to he team. We got folks talking about extending BA and he hasn't shown anything near what Deebo has. Just boggles the mind.
