Bizarre since he's the one that coined that term. He seemed happy to do whatever he could to help the team win. It's also not like he was forced to do it or to seek out contact the way he does.
I bet a lot of friends and family and agents in his ear about the pounding etc.

I said all year KS was getting cute with that crap. A couple runs a game fine. 11 straight games to finish the campaign and he had 5+ rushes in all of them. Not only did it put his health at risk (not sustainable) is it fair to say that perhaps KS ran Deebo out of town?
Course doesn't really ring true to me as it could easily be resolved internally be the club vowing to limit his rush usage...

No. We make him play out his contract, then franchise him. That's the best option for the team. Unless a team comes with no less than two 1st's, two 2nd's, and a B-level player he plays that contract out and face being tagged. I'd hate to do that because Deebo deserves to be paid, and I really like the guy. But we cannot afford to loose him, even in a trade.

Notable differences between Deebo Samuel and the other WRs who cashed out this offseason: those guys are on their third contracts and had multiple big years before even getting their second. Samuel has an injury history going back to college with one season of elite production.

I think it's fair to say since Shanahan/Lynch took over the 49ers have become a pretty desirable destination. Richard Sherman/Trent Williams, two HOFers, are good examples. Even Jimmy Garoppolo didn't force his way out. This situation with Samuel is an outlier.
