"If you want to get paid"
This some how seems similar to the RG3 situation. They are both wanting to play a different role from what make them good. Weird

He has had 2 pretty subpar years in a row. Granted, it was with Baker as his QB. But still.

Shennault on trade block, could absuty replace it, or come close.

Yeah not even close.

As a coach should. If players aren't happy with their roles, let them kick rocks.

But yet he constantly supported Jimmy who's the biggest reason he is used as a RB.

I 100% buy what Rappaport is selling. I don't think there is any amount of money that will get him to sign here. I think we offered him top WR money, as has been reported and he is going to walk because in retrospect the hits he is taking, to be used how we use him, are going to shorten his career. The catch there is, without that dual role, I don't think he is a top 5 receiver and to make matters worse for him, sitting a year pretty much destroys your career. So he has very, very little leverage. Anyone who wants him is going to want 49ers Deebo, not borderline top 12 guy who doesn't take handoffs. So he is forcing his way off a system that made him a household name and likely offered him top dollar over not wanting to be used in a way that is exactly how his market is going to want to use him.

This! And the irony is that HE said he liked the role, supported it and wanted the ball any way he can get it. I guess only in a contract year. I was all about Deebo until his true Diva ass colors showed, ego definitely telling him he better then he is, I'd bet money he won't ever have a season like last year again, especially elsewhere. Trade his ass

It all depends on what his goals in the NFL are. If his goal is to be a legendary WR, then he will be traded and signed at a rate he is worth ONLY as a WR. If his goal is to maximize his second contract, then he will sign with SF and take the punishment required of being a WR/RB.

#1 is partly why this seemingly came out of nowhere this offseason. I get the feeling that sometimes after the season was over some other 3rd party- Deebo's agent, or close friend - got in his head a little since there was zero indication Deebo had a problem of doing whatever role helped them win last year.

I can see it if its something that would hurt is Salary, but I think him being this dual threat actually make him more profitable. Unless he is worried about the injury concern of playing this way. Maybe thats why he wants to be paid BIG if he stays here.

you really think you can plug in some guy and have him do what deebo did.. catch, run, violently finish runs. run out of the back field. return kicks and throw touchdown passes,. lets stop pretending like anyone can do what deebo did just because kyle can call those plays.

We don't need someone to do what Deebo did. Did we have someone do that In 2019?. We need a receiver to make plays down field, especially since we have Lance at QB. Idk. Maybe bring In a veteran like J. Jones? Losing Deebo makes us a weaker team, but it's not the end of the world. Looking forward to seeing JJ and Aiyuk shine.
Deebo isn't worth the headache if he's already acting like this. If they can get a first they should cut their losses and move on. Dude is T.O. Already without the T.O. Longtime production

One risk here is he gets injured week 5 of 2022. He spends all year complaining, social media slamming the club, is genuinely upset at not getting his big payday, etc. Now we got an injured malcontent on our hands. Think of what that would do to his trade value.

Right now the trade value is sky high he balled out. What's your exit strategy if you tag you can't tag forever, eventually he walks and we're left holding a big bag of nothing.

Yeah, agree. Just let him go and get as much as we can. We don't need drama.

What worries me now is GM's now know he doesn't want to be used as a RB which loses alot of his value. If you just use him as a WR he is not on Hill,Diggs, and Adam's level. But he is more valuable if he has that in his arsenal.

Who knows but I gotta say it's preeeeetty hypocritical of critics (myself included) saying he shouldn't get paid because he can't stay healthy, yet he's expected to be the most physical wr in the league. High expectations for blocking, playing rb, and taking the hit for yac rather than running out of bounds

Would be funny if they both ended up on the same team with Jimmy throwing him the ball. Talk about Karma.
