I like his style! Huge upgrade over Pettis
It is easy to envision him becoming Jimmy's #1 safety valve target. Seems to possess all the tools needed to give a QB the confidence that he can get himself open quickly, and make the tough catch.

Pettis's production at the end of the season was promising. I wouldn't be surprised if he leads us in yards this season.

I'm very happy w/ Deebo though, huge upgrade over Bourne is what we're really looking at/for. Him and Dante should be a nice combo.

I actually wonder how much he'll even have to learn in year 1. Kyle already has Pettis and Goodwin slated for the X. Pettis learned all three last year, Goodwin started playing the Z after the bye-week so Pettis could stay at X. My guess is Deebo comes right in at Z and mostly stays there given the dozen of other options Kyle can use for the slot. Maybe not? Kyle will tell us soon I'm sure.

I don't think we see a traditional x ,y ,z receiving corps. I see everyone rotating and shifting all over the field. The only thing I don't see is James or Taylor playing outside. Other than that everything else is free game. Should be fun to watch.

This...people are trying to pigeonhole a WR to a certain role, yet guys like Pettis/Deebo/Goodwin/Hurd can play multiple spots.

While I'll agree to that, I think your X does have to be a special guy. They have a tough job in press-man situations. They can't shift or motion and they're on the LOS. So, CB's can get right up on them, close the space and challenge them at the LOS. That's a tough job for even the best WR's. I think we forget how good NFL CB's are, mainly cause we haven't seen really good ones on our roster, fully healthy, in a long time.

As one NFL scout put it, "they're usually the best athlete on the field. These were the guys who, whenever you would play tag on the playground, always won."

Imagine trying to run away from that guy who always won at tag when he's pressed up right on you from the beginning and you can't move before the snap. That's a tough job. It takes special WR's to beat those guys on the regular.

Not if we're in 12 personel.

Yep another guy who doesn't understand that the two are playing totally different positions. Pettis is our X, Deebo is our Z. The biggest position of competition is going to be the slot receiver position. We have a logjam of players there. It's likely that some guys will get cut who were starting last years.

That is more old school thinking.

I have heard Kyle say on multiple occasions our guys can play multiple positions. That doesn't apply to this offense. The only players that are strictly slot Wrs are Taylor and James.

i am totally fine with cutting any wide out from last year including the second tight end from last year. it was such a underwhelming group. last year all they did was resign garcon. dumb and draft pettis.. this year its a new ball game in my opinion

wow you actually care about other players not named pettis?

He cares about players who like Cats and not Dogs, hence Pettis and Deebo fascination by NC. LOL jk bro. You know I love ya NC.

Oh that's not true. I like Deebo and he hates dogs (true story).

Quick, bring in the Deflector!

"I gotchur 'concerns' right hereh!

I really wanted Aj Brown but Deebo is gonna be a real weapon for us fasho. He's a scrappy receiver, plays big, can return kickoffs, u can hand it off to him, and he can throw a touch down. Picture him throwing a 30 yard td to pettis/Hurd. Cant wait til the season starts we have weapons all over.

I wanted Brown too. When I saw Jerry ran the hill with him I was sold, no doubt. But I have more faith in my coach because I value his opinion.
