This isn't a knock against Deebo's video -- just a separate thought after watching somebody say a dude got "posterized" because he didn't annihilate the ball handler -- like he should have.

Yes.

Show this man some nasty Nate Robinson
Originally posted by okdkid:How?! The defender has to be in perfect position and even then the ball handler still gets the call. These guys need to get their knees taken out from under them when they go for a dunk -- then it will be exciting and worthy of the hype. (again not a Deebo comment, just a basketball thing. I'll stop there to not derail.)

Tons of athleticism. No doubt. But if a defender truly wanted to destroy Nate physically and mentally...he could do it by taking out his knees. Guys like Nate Robinson have nothing to fear as they go to the hoop. It's all upside for them. Guys like Nate Robinson would shrivel into a ball if there was a legit shot they'd get obliterated when they left their feet. But there's not. Very little risk.

That defender can't do anything. Just jump with his arm up in the air. Even if he gets there it's likely a foul. Those ball handlers don't need a lot of courage to take on an imposing guy -- the rules prevent the defender from destroying him physically. The athleticism is great, no question. But "posterizing" somebody like the dude just got owned or something is easy. The rules give the defender no legit shot to make the ball handler second guess himself. Also, dunks happen like 10x a game. They're so played out even the stars pull out of the all star competition. They just don't move the needle like the "exciting" plays in other sports.
