So Maiocco says it's personal? Ouch.

https://www.ninersnation.com/2022/4/27/23043985/49ers-maiocco-personal-deebo

Since Kyle and Deebo have a close relationship and the head coach isn't involved in negotiations, this has to be stemming from Deebo's agent and Paraag. Paraag must of started the conversation with some numbers that Deebo felt disrespected by, and it completely spiraled out of control from there.

That's my guess.

That has always been my first inkling.

"I know for a fact that they were very cognizant about the fact that the first offer they give to Deebo can't be an insulting offer," Maiocco said, "The 49ers were very much like, 'Okay, we know we can't offer a number that is considered an insult.' They were prepared to pay him."

Then we have a video of Deebo saying he never got an offer.

Insulted. Now it's personal. He wants out. And here we are.

They were just following the wisdom of "if you can't offer something nice, then don't offer anything at all." They knew they didn't want to give Deebo an offer that would be insulting, so they didn't give him an offer at all.

Possibly. Then the longer that drags on, it shows you're not that interested.

Maybe. The history of this regime shows that they're willing to give out record setting deals and also that they're not going to do so until a deadline forces them to.

Possibly. You can hear the video with him talking to A.J. Brown who also was insulted by not even getting to $20M...on an initial offer and wanting to go to the negotiation table. And Deebo didn't even get that.

But there's no point in drawing up an initial offer or going to the table if you are worlds apart in initial talks and you (Deebo) and your agent are confident you can get that bag elsewhere.

It's probably personal because he feels he laid it on the line for the team and Paraag isn't matching that in reciprocity in negotiations.

This. Deebo LITERALLY put his body on the line for the team. He left it all on the field. Paraag was probably incredibly disrespectful and insulting in early negotiations in Deebo"s eyes, and now, Deebo feels that he isn't as respected or appreciated by the organization as he should be.

So Saleh texted Kyle and got a "F No" response.
if it got personal you blame deebos agent

heard plenty of contract stories on KNBR interviews over the years for MLB and NFL agents/executives/players

multi million dollar contract negotiations are not pretty or flattering for the player

the team will bring reasons for lowering the offer
-age
-injury risk
-comps to other players with low salaries
etc.

the agent needs to bring reasons for raising the pay
-comps to players with high salaries
-etc.

this is normal business

If the player hears any of this it sounds like the team is talking s**t and doesnt value him

i have no idea what is going on with deebo. the 49ers usually pay their stars and get it done in july before camp starts

kittle and warner both got top money for their position groups

based on the drama surrounding other clients for the agent i blame the agent

this strongly reminds me of the poston brothers and the crabtree BS. those agents took a scorched earth attitude into contract negotiations

if you never heard of them google "poston brothers agents" and you will see a ton of damage they caused

So there was no low ball offer bc Deebo said he never got an offer? And thats what he's insulted over? Last week he reportedly said the 49ers shouldnt make an offer. Is that true?

I can believe he thinks its personal but i just dont know how he arrived at that position? Its personal bc the 49ers haven't made him an offer yet?

I'm so confused.

Does it matter? Both avenues have the same end result. For Deebo, anyways.

Does anyone remember the 2020 offseason right after the SB loss? Deebo was facetimeing Jerrick McKinnon and asked him if he was resigning with the Niners. McKinnon said "F*ck no haha" and they both started laughing out loud about it. It was a very short 20 sec video. I'll try to dig it up.

At the time I didn't think anything of it. I thought Deebo was just messing around with one of his boys. Maybe he never even wanted to be drafted by the Niners in the first place?

He didn't laugh they were laughing before the question. Then KB popped in and he said what's up to him.

literally has a wtf face not laughing

Ah sh*t you're right. It was a while ago I watched that video. Well it's not like he defended the Niners in any way! Could have said its not that bad here or something.

Anyways im just trying to justify in my head trading him is ok
All the "Extra Noises" is all BS haha.

This is good news. Anyone who doesn't want Deebo here are those who had their widdle feewins hurt. Its just business and players have very little leverage when it comes to negotiations. Deebo just wants that signing bonus and the 49ers do not, atm, have that type of money to give him upfront. Jimmy needs to clear that medical exam. Like I said, the 49ers need all of that money. No way they pay that man $7.5 million because of yet another injury.
Deebo can complain all he wants but most WRs who complain and leave their team go somewhere and don't do as well. For some reason WRs fail to see when they are in a good situation and think they are more important than they are.

I'm not saying that good receivers are needed but the best ones are usually get less than 10 catches per game. Sometimes they end up getting few targets because of coverage. So their influence on the game isn't often as great as they think.

Deebo had a coach who saw that he wasn't always getting open so he started lining him up in the backfield sometimes. His production and value went up since he was getting his hands on the ball in more situations. He's a great football player but not necessarily a great receiver. Prior to last season, nobody would consider him a big threat. It was Mostert out of the backfield that was our HR hitter.

I hope they work this out because I want Deebo on the team but I don't want them to overpay and get stuck with a big contract. Bosa will need to be extended after next season and eventually they'll need to address Trey's contract. They could end up like the Chiefs and be forced to trade him anyway like the Chiefs were with Hill. You just can't have too many big contracts and still afford the quality backups you need to have a good team.
