OL Brunskill, Lauderdale
RB Wilson, Breida
TE Dwelley, Helm
DL Valoago
QB Mullens
CB Moseley
LB Lee
WR Bourne
FINANCIAL DECISIONS
Low-cost "Keepers" for 2020:
DE Blair (due to injury)
DE Moore (same)
OT Coleman (same)
S Ward (try to keep because we have a starting caliber backup with Moore)
Most Realistic Cap-Clearing Moves Via Cut or Trade:
Tevin Coleman ($4.9 million)
Marquise Goodwin ($3.7 million)
Jerick McKinnon ($4.5 million)
Total cleared for 2020: $13.1 million
Potential Cap Relief "Restructures":
Weston Richburg ($3.8 million)
Joe Staley ($4.8 million)
Dee Ford ($9.7 million)
Jimmy Garoppolo ($15.7 million)
Estimated Potential 2020 Savings: At least $5 million, but up to $25+ million in a best case scenario.
Savings from extensions:
DeForest Buckner: $10.9 million
Richard Sherman: $4.9 million
Total potential 2020 savings: $15.8 million
Potential Cap Space Cleared With Cuts/Trades/Restructures/Extensions: $30-50 million or more
Positions to Draft Due to Performance or Future Free Agency:
DE, WR, IOL, CB, S, LB
Final Opinions:
The Kittle and AA deals (if extended or franchised) will be the most costly on the cap I believe, and Sanders would cost a fair amount too. We'll have more breathing room in 2021, but we have to prepare to lose some guys. Keep your stars, but don't overpay for anyone who isn't a true impact player. Barring something unforeseen, we REALLY need to trade down and stock up on key players who provide depth in 2020 with potential to start in 2021.

I'll give it a go from a player's standpoint:
Offensive Personnel
QB: Jimmy Garoppolo; Nick Mullens & C.J. BeatHard
[--- Time to trade C.J. BeatHard]
RB: Jerick McKinnon; Matt Breida, Raheem Mostert, Tevin Coleman & Jeff Wilson Jr.
[--- Tough call here. Even if McKinnon can get back to form, salary cap is tighter now. Let Coleman go and test the market. Bring back if there are injuries. Draft a RB]
FB: Kyle Juszczyk
[--- Losing him is a killer. Continue to develop a hybrid like Daniel Helms]
TE: George Kittle; Ross Dwelley, Levine Toilolo, Daniel Helm & Garrett Celek
[--- Celek Time is over. I would not be opposed to a top pick at TE if the TE is BPA over WR. Kyle would work wonders with another dynamic TE but I get the sense, Jalen Hurd is slated for a pass catching role from the F...a chess piece. He has three ability to surpass Dwelley. Let Toilolo go and bring back for injuries or additional run blocking support. Start long term discussions with Kittle]
XWR: Emmanuel Sanders; Marquise Goodwin & Jordan Matthews
SWR: Trent Taylor; Kendrick Bourne, Richie James Jr. & Dante Pettis
ZWR: Deebo Samuel; Jalen Hurd
[--- Sanders is a must-sign for 2 years. Goodwin is cut like McKinnon to help pay for others. Matthews walks. WR needs to be a top two pick]
LT: Joe Staley; Justin Skule
LG: Laken Tomlinson
C: Weston Richburg; Ben Garland
RG: Mike Person
RT: Mike McGlinchey; Daniel Brunskill & Shon Coleman
[--- Lots of work needed here esp. on the interior. C, G and future T for Staley. Skule is not a long-term solution. Coleman and Brunskill are quality depth BUT you need first round talent for Staley's replacement. Tomlinson is average at best, Richburg can't stay healthy and could be done and Person is depth now. Big resources need to be spent here with an added focus on pass protection. Build it up with the same determination as the DL now]
Defensive Personnel
LDE/W9: Arik Armstead; Dee Ford & Ronald Blair
2i: D.J. Jones; Solomon Thomas, Kentavius Street & Sheldon Day
3T: DeForest Buckner; Jullian Taylor
RDE/W9: Nick Bosa; Damontre Moore & Jeremiah Valoaga
[--- Preston Smith was my target in FA for SAM and because of his ER. We badly need another "speed" ER if we're going to run a W9. Resign D.Moore. We also need another D.J. Jones clone as one NT can't ever make it through 16 games. Gotta see how Blair's knee is. Consider dropping Thomas, Street and Day. All easily replaceable but a speed ER to spell Ford and Bosa is a top priority. Resign Buckner, resign AA or FT.]
SAM: Dre Greenlaw; Azeez Al-Shaair & Mark Nzeocha
MIKE: Fred Warner; Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles
WILL: Kwon Alexander; Elijah Lee
[--- We definitely could use a quality depth veteran here and esp. on that has ER ability in case of injuries in W9. The WILL is hurt every year and is a crucial piece to this defense. Draft pick and veteran]
RCB: Ahkello Witherspoon; Emmanuel Moseley, Jason Verrett & Tim Harris
SCB: K'Waun Williams; D.J. Reed
LCB: Richard Sherman; Dontae Johnson
FS: Jimmie Ward; Tarvarius Moore
SS: Jaquiski Tartt; Marcell Harris & Antone Exum
[--- CB and S should certainly be a high target as well. Ward needs to be resigned but now he can test the market. Is he loyal? Moore should challenge him this year. Like ER's in a W9, you can never have too many quality DB's. We could really use a playmaker. That's just not Witherspoon, Tartt or Ward]
Special Teams
LS: Kyle Nelson
PK: Robbie Gould
P: Mitch Wishnowsky
KOR: D.J. Reed & Richie James
PR: Richie James; (Trent Taylor)
GR: Raheem Mostert & Tarvarious Moore
[--- Mitch's leg is dead already on kickoffs. Consider a challenger. Also, Cordarrelle Patterson was another target of mine. He's in the pro bowl now. We need both a new Special Teams coach and dynamic returner]
The theme this year should be upgrading average starters on the OL, extra focus on pass protection, special teams and depth in the front 7 and developing young WR's more.

RDE: Ford, Armstead, [new acquisition]
3T: Buckner, Thomas, Street/Givens
NT: Jones, Taylor, Street/Givens
LDE: Bosa, Blair
Speed dial: Damontre Moore

Yeah, I was kind of bummed we didn't bring him up...closer to the Jones' role but i understand, Street is a high pick and they want to see if he has anything too. Blair and Moore are tweeners still. Great for giving Bosa and AA a rest in rotation. But I wouldn't mind a more pure speed rusher for nickel for Ford security. Thoughts?
Originally posted by NinerBuff:Team Need: Better Special Teams play. Seriously, we're always at a disadvantage on ST. Mostert is a good gunner, but our return game is terrible. At this point, all I hope for is that we don't fumble.
Originally posted by OnTheClock:Yeah, I mean if Blair is recovering well, I'd still try to keep him on a one-year deal so we can see if he can be the Solomon Thomas replacement after next year. Speed though, yeah we definitely could use some more speed to threaten wherever there might be a weakness to that. Wondering if there is a pure pass rush specialist we can take that maybe isn't great against the run, but is monstrous as a pass rushing closer.
Solomon Thomas is due $8.9m in 2020. $4.6m is dead cap space, so if you cut him you will save $4.3 next year.

I highly doubt the front office gives up on him though. https://t.co/pgzjAYtlus
