So just give up a late rd pick for the 0.00000000000000000000000001% chance that Mullens would be picked up and thus not on our PS? What sense does that make?
Maybe I just don't get it. I can't help but wonder why we are soooooo worried about losing our third string QB? Because of last year when we needed him?

Yep. Not rocket science is it?

We have Brieda, McKinnon, and Coleman for less this year than what Bell costs? All three are solid to good receivers out of the backfield. Two of which have experience running the Shannahan system with the other stuffing for one year. Safe to say we may have a very strong running back by committee approach.

I dig it

You obviously dont get it. Its not about being so worried about losing him. Its about losing him without getting a draft pick back for him.

It's a great move. TC was on most people's fantasy football team.

Is Mullens not competing to be the backup over Beathard? Why are we stuck on a label of 3rd string?
Is there any truth to the rumor we're be running the wishbone offense next year?

Glad ot have him. Good deal that will provide rest to 2 smaller rbs that have had injuries

Zoners........The ones that are freaking out chill.......stick your n.ts in the freezer for awhile.

It's 5 million dollars a year, it's a steal for a quality back and it's only 2 years for a proven back who can do everything in kyle's system
last year.......we lost Mckinnon, brieda, Mostert......and finished with Wilson (who fumbles all the time)

Look at the Pats......they got Sony Michel, burkhead, James White, Corradelle Patterson......you need a lot of backs.
Especially in Kyle's heavy run system

I also got a feeling they may run, two backs in the backfield, Brieda hinted at that before the season started and before Brieda got hurt.......which would be a lot of fun to see.

Mostert - played like a beast when he got a lot of carries, but probably not the guy you want taking a lot of carries
Coleman - Not injury prone, solid runner, but you now you can run him less, and mixed in
McKinnnon - hopefully he comes back to full strength......still a great pass catcher, and break out in the open field
Brieda - A great back, but another guy you don't want to over run

This a deep backfield.......I still think they need a short yardage back but we will see

+1

I agree with needing a short yardage back but I think the FO views Juice in that roll even though he hasn't performed well with that
I really like this signing. We have some insane speed at RB and they can all catch from out of the backfield or when split out wide.

Coleman looked like a future star before Shanny left Atlanta, then his numbers took a slight hit and some of that shine wore off. This allowed us to steal him in free agency and I love this move more than signing Bell to huge money.

To me that sounds like getting a draft pick for a punter. I'm not sure what you think we could get for him. A 7th rounder? He didn't win the last 5 games of the season so I'm thinking he doesn't warrant any draft picks.

Exactly. I'm under the impression that Mullens enters camp as the backup based on last seasons play. Seems like CJ should have to win back the job.

Going to be the fantasy stud for our RBs

Good pickup, Inthought we'd be targeting him
  • 4.8 YPA this year
  • 1076 yards from scrimmage
  • 0 fumbles lost in 3 years
  • 25 years old

I dont see how anyone cant think this is a great signing for only 10M for 2 years.

He's not going to pass a 3rd round pick as a 6th or 7th that he was. He didn't show anything more than what CJ is capable of. Besides Kittles production will go down if CJ is traded. Gotta keep them Iowa boys together.
I think this was the better move then eating up the cap to pay Bell
