Without a doubt, this is better than signing Bell. I can't believe that was even being considered. However, this is not an excuse for all the remaning non-signings of safeties or WRs and the ridiculous amount of money offered to kwon alexander and AA this year and JM last year. Has the FO lost their minds.
This has been an awful free agent signing period for the 49ers. Reminds me distinctly of the days of Baalke.

LMAO
Dee Ford alone makes this our best FA period in years.

So just give up a late rd pick for the 0.00000000000000000000000001% chance that Mullens would be picked up and thus not on our PS? What sense does that make?

Lynch/Shanahan probably mentioned McKinnon, Breida, and perhaps Mostert in their gameplan when they were courting Coleman. Lynch/Shanahan may decide to cut or trade McKinnon soon, but it still makes me wonder why Coleman chose to be part of a committee which already has three capable RB's. Is he content with 10-12 touches a game max while he enters his prime? Perhaps Coleman really wanted to reunite with Shanahan, but there are/were other landing spots for him that would have translated into more touches per game. Hmmm...

If we could get a pick for him then yeah of course. If a team comes a knocking then yeah. But to cut CJ and keep Mullens would be very uncomfortable to do. Keep CJ, put Mullens on the PS which he will clear waivers, and move on to the playoffs with Jimmy and our freaking awesome defense that sucked last year.Originally posted by Ninerjohn:Anywhere from 5th to 7th. Wow. Lots of weapons in the backfield and Coleman should be a great addition & give a 1-2 punch with Jett. Breida will still get plenty of time.
Another good pickup!

I dont see how anyone cant think this is a great signing for only 10M for 2 years.
This might have been the biggest steal in FA, no homer no joke

May the best man win. Coleman is probably RB1
Why not? Breida had one of the highest YPC in the league last year. And he's high on McKinnon.

Mullens will not clear waivers, after what teams saw last year someone will pick him up off waivers.

Imagine having Tevin Coleman for four years and never giving him even 50 targets in a single season pic.twitter.com/bJmaKL4nox

The one that stands out to me is the corner route he ran out of the freaken backfield against the Seahawks for a TD.
