thats what i was thinking , plus he unproven too.

Probably don't want to go into the season with a starting RB that just came off an ACL. Who knows if he'll even be the same player

I dont see how anyone cant think this is a great signing for only 10M for 2 years.

This might have been the biggest steal in FA, no homer no joke

Matt Breida
  • 5.3 YPA this year
  • 1075 yards from scrimmage
  • 1 fumble lost
  • 24 years old

I dont know... I dont get the signing. Tevin Coleman is good back but we already have a good back thats only costing us $645,000

Matt Breida missed some games if you recalled last year, both Mostert and Morris were forced to fill in along with Wilson. Matt is also smaller than TC. Plus as I like to say it is about playing 3D chess and not checkers. This is his third year and the niners are going to have to tender him after next season. Not to mention if JM turns out to falter, they may decide to jettison him because his hit on the cap will be small after the 2nd year. Plus TC is familiar with the system, has produced.

I think the OL will do even better than last year since this will be the first time they are the same and know one another. That cannot be over emphasized. So the run game will be way better thus also exposing JG much less and making the play action that much more effective.

Breida was hurt almost every game. Probably every game.

Breida got dat Reuben Foster disease
None the less I think this was a good signing all the way around and surprised.
We have the best backfield in the league!
Low cost, high upside in this offense. He probably wants to avoid having another RB injury derail the whole offensive gameplan..

Mostert was averaging 7.7 YPA... McKinnon can produce as well.

RB's get hurt thats what they do. We have 3 capable RB's which is all you need. I would rather we picked up a late round rookie or UDFA save the cash and use it to pad contract offers for other players in a more needed position.

I'm not saying he's not a bad deal or a bad player.... I just dont see a lot of value in signing him.

Still not sure how we got Coleman for 2/10...Hes 25, and had nearly 1100 AP yards and 9 TD's as a part time back last year. What am I missing?

He seems like a perfect blend of RB and WR, size, route running, ball carrier vision. DCs are going to have to think about whether to treat him as a good receiving threat and cover him with a safety, that's when Kittle presents the big matchup problem (he burns LBs).
This was a shock but I love it, before McKinnon was signed he was my trade hope last year, and signing this year, I think The fact he signed so cheap shows he knows what Shanahan does for him, now don't have to depend on McKinnon to come back so fast and hold our head when Brieda limps off, I love this free agency even if no more moves are made, Draft focuses on Edge, WR, S, CB if no Verrrett

And that's better than everyone we had.

Because he's going to be our #1 option. Other teams were probably offering him change of pace money.
