I prefer the 1981 and 1984 corners, Eric Wright and Ronnie Lott...their 2 Super Bowl victories were on teams that went 16-3 and 18-1. In 1984, that "1" was a loss to the Steelers at the Stick, when Eric Wright got called for pass interference on a play that would have been 4th down. Steelers got the ball at the 1 and we lost. After the game the ref admitted to the press that he had blown the call. Undefeated season potential gone.

For a smaller CB when he jams, he's actually square and it stunts the WR enroute. I love that. And covering ANY WR across the field is hard enough but AB? Well done.

Verrett=small corner who plays big
Ahkello=big corner who plays small

Wtf. Wow!!!! Even though I don't think they would be the best team ever if they had not a blown that call (1989 could smoke any team), it would probably be considered the best team ever.
Here is my take on Varrett, his size is what gets him injured having to play corner. If he doesn't play corner, I would like to see him make a position change. Not to the slot, but to Free safety. Ward is also small and has injury problems and should have never been moved to CB. Honey badger moved to free safety and is flourishing. It is easier for corners to switch to safety and I think he will flourish there and rejuv his career and get the big money and healthier. He is fast and tenacious and think he will get more picks. Besides Ward is going to get hurt, it is just a matter of time. So two hurt guys to man one position makes a whole season-

I like how grant cohn trying to argue about other top corners we could have signed. If they are that good, a team usually doesn't let them walk. He argued against Sherman if I recalled. Such a douche.

CB usually move to FS not to prevent injury but because they no longer have the speed and agility. FS requires to make big hits, so you can't prevent injury by switching to FS.
However cover 3 requires speedy FS, so if Varrett no longer run fast due to his various injury he can try FS, but probably not with this team.
Could be like the Carlos Rogers signing in 2011 or even better. If he is healthy, he'll likely win the starting job and we should have far less breakdowns in the secondary. They've done really well in this free agency period. Bringing in some serious help, without breaking the bank.

Small-boned. It's a given that he will get injured if he plays a physical game.

Bone size affects ligaments like achilles and ACLs?

Strong safety requires the big hits more than the FS. With this team they like to say the two are interchangeable, but when you watch the games, not really. I agree that moves are done usually because they lost the agility and/or speed, but I did not mean moving him to prevent injuries, but he will likely lower his chances at getting injured with the switch and having him on the field making plays is what you want. At his size, he will not have to battle the bigger wr like he does as a CB. At FS he will be helping to pick off the wr like a sniper or spy from that position and be more in line to make a play for or on the ball.

As for this team, I don't see why he can't make the transition, especially as the FS.
