I hear yal but I wouldnt mind them signing Sherman. He still has high football IQ if nothing else. Teach those 2 rooks a few tricks. On the downside I do feel like he would likely end up injured. Sherm is still better than Thomas and Johnson.

We burned all our injury luck the year Joe Staley screamed in pain and collapsed on the field then got up and was perfectly fine after

haha I remember that play. Thought our playoff chances were killed, then he gets up and walks off and comes back into the game later... bizarre

With the off field issues Sherman had not sure they'd be willing to sign him. Not worth the PR heat. I think he'd be a good coach though.

They're talking about how much money Verrett's injury cost him. He was playing on a 1 year deal and hoping to show his value this season so he could sign a big contract. We lose his ability and he loses a lot of money. Ouch.

Not surprising at all. We knew the risks coming in.

When can we expect the official news following the MRI?

Typically the team releases something by this afternoon.

Even worse for him is that he turned down a multi a year deal from another team to stay with the Niners. Really sucks for him and his family.

You can't legislate for injuries but when your #1 cb has missed 3 of the last 4 seasons due to injury, drafting guard and rb before cb is not an affordable luxury. Especially if not addressing it through free agency. That said, hopefully it's a sprain instead of a tear.

Highly, highly unlikely. I cant remember a single time we've had a suspected ACL tear turn out to not be an ACL tear. Also, Verrett was crying when he was on the field, given that he's had an ACL before, I'm sure he knew before anyone else.
Sucks, sucks, sucks.

Lynch probably called Sherman already, and needs to make a call to Gareon Conley and see if that ankle is fully healthy. Make a call to Quinton Dunbar and see if he has cleared up the personal issues he was having during the Lions training camp. The options are there so no reason for the Niners to slack and allow the likes of Johnson and Thomas (who does not look ready) to man the edges.
I don't think Sherman is an option. He is unemployed for a reason. His time as a solid CB is done

Especially since the said guard and rb are healthy scratches.

Not just that. He hasn't been working out with any team so wha tkind of shape is he in. They face Jalen Hurts next week who is showing signs of improvement. After that they will see Rogers and Wilson. Despite the way he looked yesterday, Rogers is still dangerous and Wilson is Wilson.
Old man Sherman will still get more respect from guys like Rodgers and Wilson than Dontae Johnson will. Johnson's a liability because he's a known target for opposition QBs (see Goff).
PLEASE sign Sherman for insurance purposes. Send DJ back to the practice squad.
