CB Jason Verrett IS BACK on IR!

Think we should just move on here. No longer young, about to be 31. He's given 2 years of production and 5 years of where is this guy (trainer's table). Kinda like playing Russian roulette but you got 5 bullets instead of one. I don't like our odds.

If there's no guaranteed money, incentive-laden... which is appropriate for such an injury plagued player... there's no risk.
We sign him, he goes into training camp, doesn't look good... we cut him.
If he looks good, he wins a roster spot. If he gets injured, he goes to IR, and we use that roster spot on someone else.

I'm sick of every 49er fan thinking we need the 85 Bears defense, to win the SB when we just needed better QB play. I realize Kupp and Beckham destroyed our secondary, but we scored 17 points with less than 300 yards of offense. The offense scored 4 TDs in 3 playoff games for f**ks sake.

I don't think JV is coming back anymore sadly. DJ/Denard will be battling for a spot. And I'm thinking we also draft a CB.

Yeah, unless a corner goes down with an injury it looks like we are not going to be able to keep or want to sign Verrett. I just hope another contender does not sign him and with our luck he plays through most of the year. This makes me sad in pants

I dont follow any of this. If we can sign verret cheap, we do so. Not a big deal is it? 1.5m. its nothing.

Vet minimum, and nothing more, it'd have to be, $1.12M base($895K counts), + $152,500 per game roster bonus, only 1/17ths would count, anything above that, no thanks.

Vet min I would do it, worse case he gets hurt as always and we didn't break the bank , best case he a dominant cb like he was and stays healthy and we get a bargain

Releasing Verrett would be the icing on the cake for a miserable off-season. Hopefully Lynch wakes up eventually and brings him back though.

lol this off season hasn't been as bad as you think. Losing DJ jones sucks BUT this team was trimming the fat.
But having Dee Ford and MCG on the roster for another year does suck.

You can't release someone who is a FA. Verrett is a FA and can be signed by anyone at any time
