Worst case scenario is that he beats some other CB out, that CB is picked up by another team, and then Verrett is hurt within a couple of games and has to be put on IR.
Any other scenario is basically very little risk.

The only drawback to Verrett coming back is that if he wins a starting spot, then Ambry doesn't get much development in 2022, assuming Ambry can be a long term answer at CB. Then if Verrett does well this season, he may leave and Ambry will be an inexperienced 3rd year player. Like the signing though. When Verrett is on his game, he's a beast.

Verrett probably starts the season on PUP squad or on IR and they bring him off if there's an injury. Or they just practice squad Lenoir and Field Castro

He can play anywhere but I wouldn't want him there personally. More tackling and run game involvement. He's a top tier CB outside so that's where he should stay.
