JV has such incredibly quick feet, I think to move him to safety would be to waste that quickness.

I remember two years ago when he was healthy, just marveling about how his feet were almost a blur when he was playing tight man coverage on the LOS.

I expect Tartt to be resigned for a modest salary. Like Verrett, when he has been healthy, he has been good. Now about that dropped INT...
Too small to be a safety.

Not sure I would go down this road but Lynch seems to be approaching it with his eyes open. If Verrett manages to stay healthy for a whole year then it's obviously a plus but seriously, what do we think the odds of that happening are. For his sake I hope it works out. Eight years in the league and six of them ended up with him going on IR with major injuries. Can't even imagine what that must be like for him, especially since he has played at such a high level on the two occasions he has avoided being hurt.

Was talking about this with a football junkie friend of mine. I really hope JV gets into coaching after his playing days and has immense success in that venture where his name will live forever in football. This guy when healthy was as lockdown a CB as we've seen since Prime and should be on his way to the hall of fame but his body could never hold up. I hope he has a great story book ending he played the game the right way.

I remember Ward got hurt a lot early on in his career and then the past couple of years not as much, maybe JV can turn it around and play a bit longer. Lynch spoke about that (Jimmie Ward)...something about players/safeties getting injured often but turning it around with conditioning and technique or something like that.

On the guarded pessimistic side, if Verrett can stay healthy for the first part of the season, it gives the Niners a chance to evaluate Womack and Lenoir. Hopefully one of those two really steps up and claims the NGB spot.
Good to have him, especially at such a cheap price.

Stash him early and bring him out for the stretch run and playoffs

Great for both parties. I rooting for Varrett to get back to his 2020 form.

My heart broke for this guy last year. Got nothing but love for him.
I like the signing, but I see the results as this with how his injury has played out. He's either going to be fully healthy the whole season, but the whole team is ravaged with injures or he gets injured and the team isn't fully ravaged by injures.
